Atatürk University, founded with the aspiration of establishing a higher education institution in the Eastern region, has successfully completed its 65th year of educational endeavours since the achievement of this vision in 1957. Since its establishment, it has been dedicated to generating valuable contributions, disseminating these contributions universally, and employing scientific knowledge to address global challenges. Currently, the university operates a comprehensive educational system comprising 23 faculties, 13 vocational schools, 8 institutes, 44 research centres, 1 school, and 1 conservatory, totalling 90 academic units.

The students of Atatürk University use the active education model, which prioritizes student-centred learning and aims to equip future generations with the necessary skills and knowledge to meet contemporary demands. The institution possesses a diploma that holds significant brand value, as evidenced by its accreditation with both the European Union approved diploma supplement label and the ECTS label. Within the institutional framework of Atatürk University, a notable academic institution that has conferred degrees upon 570,000 graduates and now enrols 500,000 students, a comprehensive array of educational programs is offered. Specifically, the university encompasses a total of 678 programs, comprising 412 postgraduate programs, as well as 266 associate and undergraduate programs.

Atatürk University boasts a visually stunning campus in Türkiye, encompassing an expansive open area of 6.5 million m2 and a closed area spanning 1 million m2. The campus offers a range of amenities, including shopping centres, bank branches, cafeterias, playgrounds, movie theatres, health and sports centres, as well as extensive walking areas and a dedicated bicycle path. Due to the implementation of the New Generation University Design and Transformation Project, our university has achieved accreditation from the Higher Education Quality Board (YÖKAK), thereby attesting to the provision of high-quality education. Consequently, our university, having demonstrated a significant historical achievement, has been designated as one of the 23 Research Universities.

Second University Opportunity Without Exam…

According to Rector Çomaklı, Atatürk University welcomes students who are interested in pursuing studies at a second university, as well as individuals who are eager to pursue higher education during the selection period. He emphasized that higher education institutions provide an opportunity for individuals who have completed an undergraduate or associate degree program, are currently enrolled, or are embarking on their academic journey, to obtain a second diploma, provided that it is in a different field of study. What are the expectations of students?

Sports and cultural activities are important aspects of human society. These activities encompass a wide range of physical and artistic pursuits that contribute to the overall well-being and development of individuals and communities. Sports activities involve physical exertion

On an annual basis, a mean of 5000 students partake in the cost-free activities offered on the campus. Atatürk University possesses a total of 10 sports halls, a stadium that adheres to international standards and can accommodate up to 3000 spectators, 2 swimming pools, 2 sports complexes encompassing tennis courts, basketball and volleyball courts, as well as a mini football field. Additionally, the university boasts a sports centre of international caliber, a cafeteria, and a collection of curated artworks. The student centre encompasses several facilities, including a reading hall, culture and art centres, a bowling and billiards hall, as well as rooms dedicated to robotic coding.

Student Clubs

More than 100 student clubs serve at Atatürk University. In addition to social, cultural, artistic, and athletic activities, the clubs, which also concentrate on professional endeavours that benefit academic education, attract attention with their activities that shape students' rest, recreation, and social participation patterns.

Peaceful and Secure Environment

The university campus has 600 indoor and outdoor security cameras in total. The 350 employees of the Private Security and Protection Directorate Branch provide a safe and peaceful living environment by securing faculties, colleges, residence halls, and the entire campus against any potential negative incidents.

Social Areas

On the Atatürk University campus, there are dining halls where, under the supervision of dieticians, seasonal meals containing the calories and nutrients that students require are prepared year-round. In addition, students can eat and drink in the faculties and colleges' canteens and cafeterias, as well as in the dining and drinking areas located throughout the campus.

Transportation and Accommodation Services

Erzurum is accessible domestically and internationally via air, road, and rail connections. The university is 10 minutes away for those who arrive in the city centre via these transportation routes. Transportation between the city centre and the campus is provided by Metropolitan Municipality public transport vehicles, including numerous public buses and minibuses. Ring service is used for on-campus transportation.

Students from other provinces are accommodated in 20 dormitories with a combined capacity of 25,000, as well as 200 private dormitories and rental apartments, all within five minutes of the city centre.

Scholarships

Through the university’s Development Foundation, Atatürk University grants scholarships to exceptionally successful students and those who are experiencing financial hardship. In addition, the “Part-time Student Employment Programme” is implemented in Rectorate departments.

Health Care Services

The state ensures that all students receive complimentary health services. Research Hospital, one of the major hospitals in Turkey, is located on campus and provides medical services to all students. Again, all types of dental treatments are available, as well as emergency care for dental diseases. In addition to providing professional care 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the Mobile Animal Hospital Project provides veterinary medical services to villages.

Social Awareness Activities

At Atatürk University, social awareness initiatives are carried out throughout the year. In collaboration with the Social Awareness Projects Centre and student organizations, hundreds of social responsibility projects for all ecosystem stakeholders are implemented.

Minor and Double Programmes

At Atatürk University, double-major and minor education programs are implemented actively. With the double major programme, students can earn two separate undergraduate diplomas in two different disciplines/programmes; with the minor programme, they can study in a field other than their own.

Graduate Tracking System

Atatürk University’s Career Planning and Graduate Tracking Centre assists students confidently transition into their post-graduation life. This centre supports students in discovering and activating themselves and their potential, and in developing career preparation and career management skills for life.
