Dr. Esra Yıldız Üstün, an academician at the Atatürk University Faculty of Law, was awarded the Fulbright Academic Research Scholarship and was granted the opportunity to work at the Columbia University Faculty of Law.

Dr. Esra Yıldız Üstün will collaborate with distinguished scholars in the field of energy law at Columbia University Faculty of Law, which is ranked eighth among the world's top law schools. Dr. Esra Yıldız Üstün will make a significant international contribution to the knowledge of Atatürk University.

In 1949, Turkey and the United States of America (USA) signed a bilateral agreement. The Turkey Fulbright Education Commission, also known as the Turkey-United States Cultural Exchange Commission, provides educational counselling services to Turkish students who wish to study in the United States and supports Turkish and American university graduates, academics, artists, and public officials with scholarships that cover education, living, and travel expenses.


 Dr. Üstün: "I believe that I will be more useful to my country after my education is completed"

Dr. Esra Yıldız Üstün conveyed her gratitude for the Fulbright Academic Research Scholarship she received and stated that she would represent Atatürk University at Columbia University.

Üstün emphasised that Fulbright graduate Turkish students and faculty members, upon completing their studies in the United States, return to Turkey and perform beneficial work for our country. She also stated that she will make efforts in accordance with this mission, stating, "American academics who come to Turkey also make significant contributions to their fields through the research they conduct in various fields and the education they receive." The purpose of Fulbright is implemented and realised by Fulbright Scholars who conclude their programmes and return to their home countries, where they maintain their connections with their host institutions and their home countries in their significant roles. 59 Nobel and 80 Pultizer Prize winners, 30 heads of state, countless academics, businesspeople, artists, scientists, and researchers are among the Fulbright Scholar alumni. I am grateful to our University Rector, Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı, for his guidance and support in facilitating my receipt of the Fulbright scholarship.
