SPECIAL PROGRAMME ORGANISED FOR WORLD PREMATURITY DAY
The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of Atatürk University Research Hospital organised a significant program in conjunction with World Prematurity Day on November 17, which is observed annually to increase awareness and attract attention to premature births worldwide. The event underscored the process of premature infants retaining life and the experiences of families during this difficult voyage.
Current Approaches and the Significance of Premature Birth Shared
The medical and social aspects of premature births were discussed with the involvement of Prof. Dr. Kadir Şerafettin Tekgündüz, Lecturer at the Department of Child Health and Diseases, and Assoc. Dr. Mustafa Kara, Lecturer at the Department of Child Health and Diseases. The critical responsibilities of health professionals and families in this sensitive process were thoroughly assessed during the event. According to Prof. Dr. Tekgündüz, premature infants necessitate special care, and it is imperative to increase awareness of this matter. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kara emphasised the necessity of increasing societal awareness regarding the global rise in premature birth rates.
The primary source of joy for the program was the discharged babies and their families.
The event was also attended by the families of babies who were discharged from the Neonatal Clinic. The healthcare professionals who witnessed the event were buoyed by the sight of the infants growing up in good health. The program was significantly enhanced by the sharing of the families' challenging experiences and the healthy development accounts of the infants. The participants were served a variety of refreshments at the conclusion of the program, and the traditional cake was cut.
