ACCREDITATION PROCESSES WERE DISCUSSED IN THE ORGANIZED WORKSHOP
At the 3rd Program Peer Review Workshop, Atatürk University once again exhibited its dedication to excellence in education by engaging in a discussion regarding quality processes and accreditation objectives. The symposium, which was attended by Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hacımüftüoğlu, assessed the university's accreditation procedures and identified the necessary actions for the forthcoming period.
The workshop was attended by Rector Hacımüftüoğlu, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Bülent Çavuşoğlu and Prof. Dr. Yüksel Göktaş, Quality Coordinator Prof. Dr. Bilal Yılmaz, quality commission members, deans of the divisions where peer review will be conducted, and academic and administrative staff.
Program Peer Review Processes: Their Significance
Prof. Dr. Bilal Yılmaz, the Quality Coordinator, emphasised that program peer review processes are essential for achieving critical objectives, including the dissemination of good practice examples, the identification of areas of programs that are open to development, and the provision of external evaluation practice. He also mentioned that the self-assessment reports of 115 undergraduate programs were prepared in accordance with the YÖKAK criteria, and that 10 of these programs will be subject
Yılmaz asserted that quality is not perfection, but rather the appropriate fulfilment of human requirements. He also made the following assessments: "Quality processes should be structured in a manner that will enhance the motivation of academic and administrative personnel." These processes offer a significant advantage to Turkish higher education institutions, as international students consider accreditation criteria when selecting a university.
Atatürk University's Location and the TYÇ Logo
The meeting also addressed the privileges that Atatürk University has acquired within the National Qualifications Framework (TYÇ). According to Prof. Dr. Yılmaz, the TYÇ logo is a symbol that identifies the knowledge, skills, and competencies of individuals on a national and international scale. As of December 2024, 40 programs have been granted the right to use the TYÇ logo, and the Vocational Qualifications Institution Commission has 15 programs on its agenda.
Assessment by Rector Hacımüftüoğlu
Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hacımüftüoğlu, the Rector of Atatürk University, underscored the university's accreditation leadership achievement during his workshop address. Hacımüftüoğlu underscored the significance of being ranked first among state and foundation universities and issued the following statements: "All members of our university participate in the maintenance of quality standards by actively participating in this process." Our recognition is enhanced on a national and international scale by our leadership in quality processes. Atatürk University's perseverance and determination in the field of education are demonstrated by this accomplishment.
The workshop served as a critical platform for raising awareness of the significance of accreditation processes and establishing future objectives. Atatürk University has once again proven its commitment to being a leader in the field of education through the implementation of these processes.
