Atatürk University Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı attended the meeting of Organic Agriculture Production held at the Governor's office under the chairmanship of Governor Okay Memiş.
During the meeting, Rector Çomaklı was accompanied by faculty and unit managers working in the field of agriculture and animal husbandry, and officials from Erzurum Metropolitan Municipality and Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and forestry were present.
Sevda Aydin, chairman of the Board of Directors of the Aytim group of companies engaged in studies on textile and organic agriculture, and Johannes H A Cools, Chairman of the Green Bio Organic Bulgaria Foundation, attended the meeting in which Development and implementation of organic agriculture production supported by the European Union was discussed.
Cools, president of the Green Bio Organic Bulgaria Foundation, who made a presentation about organic agriculture and its nature at the meeting, said that organic agriculture production in Erzurum and its region would produce positive results with various support.

Governor Okay Memiş stated that this meeting took place in order to develop Erzurum and invest in the future as it is in many areas. He also stated that the scientific data of Atatürk University on agriculture and animal husbandry should be used.
Stating that agricultural products suitable for soil and climate structure of Erzurum can be produced easily by using the right methods, Governor Memis also emphasized that organic agriculture is very popular in today's city community.

President Çomaklı stated that the work is ongoing to make a quick entry into the organic agriculture sector with various cooperation signed by Atatürk University, and said that the units working on agriculture have come a significant way in this area.
Stating that the study group was established and the road map was determined to give all kinds of academic support to the meeting, Prof. Dr. Çomaklı emphasized that all units of Atatürk University are ready for the cooperation to be made for the development of Erzurum in every sense.

Following the meeting, Sevda Aydin, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Aytim group of companies and Johannes H. A. Cools Chairman of the Green Bio Organic Bulgaria Foundation visited Rector Çomaklı in his office.
The guests said they had the opportunity to visit various units of Atatürk University, especially the dairy and cereal products factories and the food laboratories whose accreditation process is ongoing. They also stated that the scientific power of the university was available for organic farming and thanked Rector Çomaklı and his team for their hospitality.

President Çomaklı stated that the production of organic agriculture has started to increase as a result of increasing demand for organic products both at home and abroad in recent years.
Çomaklı stated that organic products, which are in high demand especially in developed countries, should be converted to opportunities in terms of our country's economy: “The land to be produced organically should be at a distance that will not be affected by the main roads, heavy industrial plants, mining enterprises, areas where urban wastes are left in bulk, streams and underground waters containing polluting wastes. This situation makes Erzurum, which has extensive agricultural lands, clean air and water, attractive. We should encourage organic production by highlighting the positive characteristics of our city.”
