ERZURUM SKY OBSERVATION EVENT OPENED

Erzurum Sky Observation Event, where Atatürk University is a stakeholder, started in Konaklı, where the Eastern Anatolia Observatory (DAG) is located.

At the event, which was opened with the participation of Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank, Atatürk University Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı Besides; The city's administrative, military, bureaucratic and many participants took part.

Rector Çomaklı, who visited the stands set up in Konaklı Ski Center before the opening, both experienced the scientific inventions developed by the students and got information about their construction processes. Within the scope of the event, Open and Distance Education Faculty (ATA-AÖF), ATA Store, Astrophysics Research and Application Center (ATASAM), Biodiversity Research and Application Center and Publishing House stands established by Atatürk University attracted great attention from the visitors.

The protocol committee, which left Konaklı Ski Center in the evening and went to the DAG, which was established at an altitude of 3 thousand 170 meters, examined the sky and the DAG campus in the appropriate environment that occurred with the darkening and met with ATASAM Director Prof. Dr. Cahit Yeşilyaprak. He received information.

Rector Çomaklı stated that DAG will provide benefits for the development of the country in many areas and said: “The establishment of our observatory, which is among the doors of the world opening to space, in our city and allowing scientific studies to be carried out gives us hope for the future. The DAG project, which will enable Turkey to train the manpower it needs in space sciences and technologies and to integrate it with important scientists and thinkers in the history of science, will help increase the number of international scientific publications in our country and bring it to a more respected place. On this occasion, I wish the Sky Observation Events held for the first time in our city will be beneficial, and I would like to thank everyone who contributed to this beautiful program.”

The event will continue to be open to the public from 10:00 on Saturday, July 23.
