ERZURUM WINTER SCIENCE FESTIVAL INAUGURATED
The Winter Science Festival, hosted by Erzurum Metropolitan Municipality, with the partnership of Atatürk University and many institutions, was inaugurated.
The official opening of the Science Erzurum Center took place with the Winter Science Festival. AK Party Deputy Chairman, Information and Communication Technologies President Ömer İleri, Erzurum Governor Okay Memiş, Erzurum Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mehmet Sekmen, Atatürk University Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı, ETU Rector Prof. Dr. Bülent Çakmak, Head of T3 Foundation Ömer Kökçam, Tarnet General Manager Huzeyfe Yılmaz, civil, administrative and bureaucratic officials of the city as well as many students and science enthusiasts attended the opening ceremony.
Contributing to the National Technology Move and enable children between the ages of 7-14 to experiment, learn software and develop their coding skills with its many educational fields, The Winter Science Festival held in Science Erzurum, have workshops, scientific shows, virtual reality tunnel, telescope observations, iconic exhibitions and various competitions. In the workshops held in fields such as nature and agriculture, robotics and coding, technology and design, space and aviation, the participants enjoy being actively involved in a scientific process. In addition, applications such as airplane model making, mathematics workshop, Teknofest area, space shuttle construction workshop, astronomy observations and electronics workshops are offered to children and visitors. After the opening, the delegation visited the stands, chatted with the children, got information about the devices they developed and had the opportunity to observe their experiments on site.
Rector Çomaklı: “The Light in Our Children's Eyes Made Us Even More Hopeful for Our Future”
Inviting all parents with their children to the festival, Atatürk University Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı pointed out that the Science Erzurum Center, which is the manifestation of our country's domestic and national technology move in Erzurum, is a very important field of application and made the following statements: "There has been a great enthusiasm and great energy here today. The light in our children's eyes made us even more hopeful for our future. We should take it as our duty to endear scientific activities to our children and carry out studies accordingly. We, as Atatürk University, will be happy to be a stakeholder in the Winter Science Festival and to support all similar events that will take place. These and similar festivals are of great importance in order to support the growth of innovative, researcher and self-confident individuals and to endear science to all segments of the society. On this occasion, I sincerely believe that the festival will turn into an event that will grow and expand in the coming years, and I sincerely congratulate everyone who has contributed."
