YOUNG MINDS MEET MATHEMATICS: ATATURK UNIVERSITY ORGANIZES MATHEMATICS OLYMPIAD FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS

Atatürk University is currently engaging in the captivating field of mathematics, drawing together youthful minds to further its scientific endeavours and contribute to the advancement of its region and nation.

The Atatürk University Mathematics Olympiads, which will be conducted for fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students attending public and private institutions in Erzurum, are designed to enhance students' analytical reasoning abilities, foster their interest in mathematics, and enhance their problem-solving abilities.

In the present day, mathematics education has evolved into a critical instrument that fosters the development of logical thinking, remarking, analysing, and adapting to a variety of circumstances, rather than an isolated course. In this context, the Mathematics Olympiads, which are implemented by Atatürk University, are designed to enhance the mathematical reasoning capabilities of students and facilitate their academic success.

Students' preparation for central examinations, including the High School Entrance Exam (LGS), is also enhanced by the Olympiads. This competition is regarded as a significant step towards the improvement of the educational level of students in Erzurum, as it will facilitate the development of skills such as analysis, inference, and interpretation that are necessary for new generation queries.

"Our objective is to foster a greater interest in mathematics among our students."

The following assessments were made by Ataturk University Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hacımüftüoğlu in his statements on the subject: "Our university continues to support science and education at the basic education levels, in addition to the higher education level." Mathematical Olympiads are designed to disclose the mental capabilities of our youth, instill in them the habit of problem-solving, and identify the scientists of the future. Our objective is to foster the interest of our students in mathematics, thereby contributing to their growth in Erzurum. We will offer our student who is the first to arrive a more advanced development opportunity by allowing him to collaborate with our university academics. This organisation is not merely a competition for our children; it is a chance that will influence their academic careers.
