CALLIGRAPHY AND ILLUMINATION ART MEETS ART LOVERS

A "Kalemzer", exhibition of Calligraphy and Illumination, was hosted at Atatürk University. This exhibition contributed significantly to traditional Turkish art and enriched the visual arts with its extensive variety of calligraphy, illumination, marbling, and miniature.

The "Kalemzer" calligraphy and illumination art exhibition was hosted at the Atatürk University Art Gallery. It featured the creations of lecturer Hanifi Dursun, a calligrapher and illuminator affiliated with the Technical Sciences Vocational School of Atatürk University Technical Sciences Vocational School. Distinguished guests in attendance included Deputy Governor Ahmet Özdemir, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Özer of Atatürk University, Secretary General Zafer Aynalı of Erzurum Metropolitan Municipality, Technical Sciences Vocational School Director Prof. Dr. Abdulkadir Kan, academicians, and students.

"Our mentor Hasan Çelebi guided us," said Dursun.

Information regarding the exhibition's content was provided by Dursun, who stated that he introduced nearly forty works to art enthusiasts and displayed a distinguished exhibition of the works he has completed to date at the Kalemzer Exhibition.

"The art of calligraphy and illumination does not solely rely on ink and reed," said Dursun. The plates featured in our exhibition are crafted using pigment derived from gold mines. We compose the majority of the articles on these plates using pulverized gold of 22 to 24 carats. With my instructor Hasan Çelebi's encouragement, we were able to discern these gilded lines. He served as a trailblazer in the transmission of this art form to succeeding generations and inspired my involvement in this particular domain of art. "I would like to thank all the participants, especially our Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı, who helped us bring our works together with you."

In his inaugural remarks, Deputy Governor Ahmet Özdemir stated, "Today, Erzurum is the venue of a cultural and artistic exhibition. Once more, our esteemed Atatürk University collaborates with us to present a scientific and artistic exhibition that will enlighten intellects and establish a historical milestone. An exquisite display of illumination and calligraphy will be revealed to us, courtesy of our esteemed instructor. "I wish to extend my sincere appreciation to our instructor once more for entrusting us with these works of art. I sincerely hope that the exhibition proves to be advantageous."

Until Friday, March 8th, the Kalemzer Exhibition, which is curated by lecturer Orhan Ardahanlı and features a collection of notable artworks, will be accessible to visitors.
