Atatürk University Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı released a message due to the harbinger of spring, Hıdırellez. Rector Çomaklı stated the following in his message:

“Hıdırellez is one of the beautiful elements of Turkish culture that has traditionally been celebrated for centuries. This special day, which is celebrated with enthusiastic rituals with the intention of a fertile and beautiful summer after spring, expresses the wishes of people to have a year full of abundance, health and peace, by getting rid of the laziness and inertia of the winter.

A thousand and one kinds of flowers, sustenance, healing, fruit, etc. compiled from the treasures of mercy in their hands under the excitement of a spring procession, which is refreshed in the cyclical journey of the earth Hıdırellez is the joy of bringing us together with his baskets. It is the miracle of Allah's continuous creation. “Who would die to rotten bones? Say: He who created them in the first place will resurrect them. He knows all kinds of creation ”(Yasin / 77-79) is the manifestation of the verses that are embodied every year. For us, Hıdırellez is the beginning of being one, opening together, sharing, producing and building the future.

We hope that our days, which have deep and enthusiastic meanings such as Hıdırellez, will increase and our future days will become hope for us in these times when the process we are in has overwhelmed us, the restrictions demoralize us all, and we need fresh hopes like a new spring.
