Visiting Atatürk University Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hacımüftüoğlu at his office, Horasan District Governor Mesut Ozan Yılmaz wished him well in his new post. The value of Atatürk University for the city and the area was discussed at the meeting along with the growth of the Vocational School in Horasan and the actions done for regional development.

District Governor Yılmaz underscored during the visit emphasising the critical role of Atatürk University in Erzurum and surrounding areas that the university is not only an academic institution but also a significant player in the socio-economic development of the city. Yılmaz added, "Atatürk University plays a major role in local development. Stating specifically Horasan Vocational School helps the young population to become educated and raises the economic wellbeing of the inhabitants of the area. Every part of the city feels the scientific studies and university social endeavours."

Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hacımüftüoğlu also discussed the aim for regional growth of the institution and underlined the vital part Horasan Vocational School performs in this process. Hacımüftüoğlu: "Our university will keep helping the entire area, particularly Horasan. With the initiatives we do in our Vocational School, we want to not only increase the local job possibilities but also provide our young people access to quality education."

Ideas were also discussed at the conference for new projects and joint ventures the institution plans to undertake in and around Horasan. According to these initiatives, the area's economic growth will be much enhanced and a strong synergy between the institution and the district would result.
