THE FACULTY OF THEOLOGY AND ERZURUM MUFTI MET AT THE SEMINAR PROGRAM
The Faculty of Theology, which is among the well-established faculties of Atatürk University, which has contributed to the country's higher education for many years and is represented in many important fields with its graduates, has added a new one to the projects it has produced in the field of social contribution.
In partnership with the Faculty of Theology and Erzurum Provincial Mufti, The project titled "Determination and Development of the Competence Levels of the Presidency of Religious Affairs Personnel-The Case of Erzurum Province" organized under the direction of Dean of the Faculty of Theology Prof. Dr. Musa Bilgiz and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Muhammed Kızılgeçit was put into practice.
The project, which is carried out with the contributions of Erzurum Provincial Mufti Şahin Yıldırım, aims to develop the general-culture, basic and special competencies of the staff through seminars for mufti staff.
In the project, where Islam's perspective on universal values and the culture of peace and reconciliation is evaluated, approaches to current religious developments, the contribution of Muslims to the individual, culture and civilization, and the relationship of individual, society and culture with religion are discussed. In addition, the historical development of Islamic sciences, basic concepts and sources, current religious issues, the method and importance of effective communication, the development process of Islamic history and civilization are other topics of the study.
In order to develop the special competencies of the personnel, the relationship between the religious official and the society, the necessities and importance of preaching and guidance activities, possible questions and problems of the developing and changing society in the religious and spiritual field, and their ability to interact with the target group (children, adolescents, adults) are examined in line with the study. Stating that they gave a seminar that lasted for four weeks, Dean of the Faculty of Theology Prof. Dr. Musa Bilgiz: “Our seminar, which was given by academics who are experts in their fields and sheds light on current issues, was very productive. I wish our program, which has helped to strengthen the communication bridge established between the personnel of the Directorate of Religious Affairs, Erzurum Mufti and our faculty, will be beneficial, and I would like to thank the academicians of our faculty for their efforts and our staff of the mufti for their desire to keep up to date.”
Making an evaluation on the subject, Atatürk University Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı wished that this seminar, which was held for university-stakeholder meetings, would be beneficial. Rector Çomaklı, who stated that Atatürk University has a mission that goes beyond its borders, thanked everyone who contributed, saying that he would support all the work done and planned for this purpose until the end.
A Library Project for Every Class
In addition, within the scope of the New Generation University Design and Transformation Project, the Faculty of Theology, which aims to improve the reading awareness of the students by establishing a library in each of its classes, ensures that the students are equipped with national and spiritual values in accordance with the Turkish-Islamic culture.
In the libraries, which consist of distinguished works donated by the people of Erzurum as well as the members of Atatürk University who are working or retired, a student is assigned for each library and the reading rate is recorded.
