WORKSHOP ON ADVANCED MICROSCOPE TECHNIQUES CONDUCTED
The "Advanced Microscope Techniques Workshop" was held on December 17-18, 2024, at Atatürk University and organized in collaboration with ZEISS, Atatürk University Biodiversity Science Museum, and Eastern Anatolian High Technology Application and Research Center (DAYTAM). The event was attended by a large number of participants.
The workshop, which was designed to unite researchers and students with the latest technological advancements in the field of microscopy and the significance of microscopy techniques in the scientific community, conducted both theoretical and practical sessions over the course of two days.
Scientific Research Contributions of Microscopy Techniques
The Atatürk University Biodiversity Science Museum hosted the inaugural day of the event. Atatürk University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Türkez, DAYTAM Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bilal Nişancı, and Atatürk University Biodiversity Science Museum Director Prof. Dr. Levent Gültekin delivered the inaugural speeches.
After the inaugural speeches, Prof. Dr. Levent Gültekin discussed the utilization of digital technologies in biodiversity research in his presentation titled "Atatürk University Biodiversity Museum, Digital Applications in Taxonomy." The innovations that X-ray microscopy offers to research and laboratory applications were detailed by Mohsen Samadi Khoshkhoo from ZEISS in his speech titled "Extending Synchrotron X-ray Microscopy to the Laboratory."
The initial day concluded with a visit to the Atatürk University Biodiversity Science Museum and the demonstration of digital photography applications.
Microscopic Applications in Materials Science and Life Sciences
Technology and application-focused seminars were conducted on the second day of the workshop. Practical training was administered subsequent to informative presentations by ZEISS Regional Sales Manager Can Samim and Business Partner Manager Dr. Seda Kaya regarding the organization's innovative microscope technologies.
Volkan Erkut, a ZEISS Application Specialist, conducted the "Cross-beam Electron Microscope Workshop" to provide participants with the chance to become acquainted with the working principles of electron microscopes and their applications in materials science. Subsequently, the "Confocal Microscope Workshop," which was organized by ZEISS Application Specialist Efe Can Yıldırım, focused on the application of confocal microscopy techniques in the fields of biology and life sciences.
Q&A sessions concluded the seminars. Experts were available to answer queries and provide participants with comprehensive information regarding microscopy techniques.
Prioritization of Science and Collaboration
The "Advanced Microscope Techniques Workshop" afforded participants the chance to disseminate the most recent advancements in microscopy technologies through both theoretical information and practical seminars. This event, which was organized with the assistance of Özgül Laboratory Solutions, served as a significant illustration of Atatürk University's commitment to the advancement of scientific collaborations, the integration of innovative technologies with scientists, and the enhancement of the scientific community.
Atatürk University will persist in its efforts to motivate scientific research, introduce new researchers to innovative technologies, and illuminate the future of science through such events.
