The recipients of the Khwarezmi International Science Awards (KIA), which are presented annually by the Iranian Research Organization for Science and Technology (IROST) in recognition of the endeavors, studies, and contributions of scientists and engineers from around the globe in various scientific and technological disciplines, have been determined.

Prof.Dr. İhami Gülçin, a lecturer in the Department of Chemistry at Atatürk University Faculty of Science, was honored with the UNESCO-supported science award at an awards ceremony that covered numerous fields, including biotechnology, food safety, aviation, and nanotechnology.

Tehran, the capital of Iran, hosted the 37th Khwarezmi International Awards (KIA), which have been presented since 1987 in honor of the Iranian astronomer and mathematician Muhammad Musa Khwarezmi and to promote scientific inquiry. Prof. Dr. İlhami Gülçin, expressing his elation at being recognized as deserving of the esteemed Iranian Research Organization for Sciences & Technology (IROST) award bestowed upon preeminent scientists globally and regarded as Iran's preeminent scientific accolade, stated that Atatürk University has established a notable reputation on global stages. He expressed great pride in making the announcement.

Gülçin asserted that the scientific investigations he has conducted have garnered admiration both domestically and internationally, and underscored that this serves as motivation for the recognition of his academic pursuits, which ultimately benefit humanity. He further pledged to serve his nation by persisting in his scientific research with the same enthusiasm that he felt on the initial day.

Gülçin conveyed his appreciation to Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı, the rector of Atatürk University, for his profound attention and contributions to his academic pursuits. Additionally, he acknowledged the committee that determined his deservingness of the Khwarezmi International Award.

"International honors of this nature contribute to our recognition," said Rector Çomaklı.

Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı asserted that the recipients of these and similar honors reaped the benefits of the scientific community's response to the Atatürk University-established ecosystem. He further stated that the prestigious award signifies the university's academic prowess, worldwide influence, and not solely individual accomplishments.

Rector Çomaklı expressed pride in the fact that Prof. Dr. İlhami Gülçin was recognized as deserving of Iran's most prestigious scientific award, in conjunction with the recent national accolades he has received. He further stated that the university's international standing was enhanced by all the accolades received. Rector Çomaklı expressed his firm conviction that the academic environment and research culture established through the New Generation University Design and Transformation Project will foster numerous further accomplishments. In light of this, he said, "I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Prof. Dr. İlhami Gülçin on this momentous triumph and extend my sincere gratitude for his exceptional endeavors and contributions, which have earned him this esteemed accolade."
