WISHING YOU A JOYOUS 109TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE KUT AL AMARA VICTORY.
A greeting was published by Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hacımüftüoğlu, the Rector of Atatürk University, in honor of the 109th Anniversary of the Kut Al Amara Victory. The following expressions were employed by Rector Hacımüftüoğlu in his message:
❝We are privileged to commemorate the 109th anniversary of the Kut Al Amara Victory, a milestone in our history that was achieved by the Ottoman army through unwavering faith, determination, and resolve.
The Turkish army, under the command of Halil Kut Pasha, achieved a significant victory during the First World War by capturing over 13,000 British soldiers. This victory demonstrated to the world the potential of our nation to accomplish great things through faith and love of country. This triumph, which was documented in gilded letters in history in the town of Kut Al Amara, located south of Baghdad, on April 29, 1916, was considered one of the most significant victories achieved by the Turkish army following the Gallipoli Victory.
Our nation's determination, devotion to its homeland, and unwavering will were the determining factors in the victory of this struggle, which was waged in the face of impossibilities. It has once again exposed the sacrifices that were made to transform these territories into our homeland.
Kut al-Amara is not merely a military triumph; it is also an epic of heroism, strategy, and faith. We recall all of our progenitors, particularly Halil Kut Pasha and his comrades-in-arms, who have bestowed upon us this magnificent legacy, with mercy, gratitude, and appreciation on this significant day.
This exceptional triumph that history will never forget will forever be etched in the collective consciousness of our nation; it will continue to motivate future generations.❞
