WOMEN AND CIVILIZATION SYMPOSIUM, HOSTED BY ATATÜRK UNIVERSITY, STARTS
The National-scale Women and Civilization Symposium, organized under the Women and Democracy Association (KADEM) and Erzurum Metropolitan Municipality, started under the partnership and hosting of Atatürk University.
Erzurum Governor Okay Memiş, AK Party Erzurum Deputies Zehra Taşkesenlioğlu Ban, İbrahim Aydemir, Selami Altınok, Deputy Mayor of Metropolitan Municipality Fevzi Polat, Atatürk University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ayşe Bayrakçeken Yurtcan, AK Party Provincial President Mehmet Emin Öz and KADEM Erzurum Representative Atty. Fatima Alkan, members of the association, academics and many students attended.
The symposium, which will last for two days with 25 participants who are experts in their fields, will be organized in 4 sessions with various subjects. In the symposium, which will be discussed under many topics from the role of the woman element in the formation of civilization, from the narrative styles in folk songs and poems to her adventure from the Mongols to the Ottomans, the outcome of the symposium aims to shed light on questions, problems and various topics of discussion.
Two Main Topics Will Be Examined at all Points In The Symposium
In the symposium, where these two main issues, namely civilization and women, will be discussed for two days through interdisciplinary and international comparisons of the fields of study, ideas and discussion; On the one hand, various topics such as the debates on civilization in terms of the meaning and scope it has expressed throughout history, the works written, the policies, theories and practices concerning civilization, the thinkers who wrote on civilization and the thoughts expressed are examined with national and international examples both in times of peace and war. Throughout the ages, the place and importance of women in family, legal, scientific, artistic, political, cultural and socio-economic fields will be evaluated.
