AN INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP ON LOGISTICS AND OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT WAS HELD

“International Workshop on Optimization Models for Logistics and Operations Management” workshop was held at Atatürk University, Faculty of Engineering, Department of Industrial Engineering.

Scientists and professionals from 5 different countries (England, France, Italy, Mexico, Tunisia) participated in the workshop. Participating in the workshop as the guest of honor, Prof. Dr. Chefi Triki from  the University of Kent England gave the opening speech titled "Applications of Combinatorial Auctions in the Age of Shared Economy Logistics". The workshop was chaired by Assoc. Dr. M. Emre Keskin and Prof. Dr. Vecihi Yiğit, and  Assoc. Dr. Burak Erkayman as the secretary.

Emphasizing that the workshop brings together scientists, researchers and professionals to discuss innovative ideas and various topics related to next generation technologies and applications, Prof. Dr. Vecihi Yiğit said: “In the workshop, which was organized to create a platform to share knowledge and develop new partnerships among everyone with experience and expertise in the fields of logistics and operations management, an international platform was provided to present and publish the latest scientific research results on Logistics and Operations Management. This workshop provides good opportunities to exchange new ideas and establish research and/or business contacts with the participants, as well as to establish a global partnership for potential collaboration.”

In the workshop, evaluations were made on what new roles require.

Stating that the events experienced in the last two years, especially due to the Covid-19 pandemic, revealed the importance of resilience in logistics and operations management, Assoc. Dr. M. Emre Keskin made the following remarks: “In order to understand and mitigate the possible negative impacts of products and services on the environment of potential disruptions in supply chains, it is of great importance to collect and analyze data to predict the need to share information among supply chain partners, and to accurately determine what these new roles entail. Successfully addressing issues such as both science and practice, supply chain risk management, digitalization and sustainable supply chain management is vital to staying competitive in this changing environment.”

Keskin stated that they thought the conference would help the development of knowledge in related scientific and academic fields, thanking the contributors of the organization of the program, in which important issues related to the field were discussed,  especially Atatürk University Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı, the guest of honor, Prof. Dr. Chefi Triki and all the participants.
