Ataturk University Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı published a message on the occasion of the 950th anniversary of the Malazgirt Victory on August 26, 1071. Rector Çomaklı made the following statements in his message:

The Turkish nation, whose history is full of great achievements, opening and closing eras, has always had an important place on the stage of history. The Turkish-Islamic Army, which has been on the side of the oppressed for centuries and honorably carried the flag of Islam, has won the admiration even of its enemies with the war ethics it has developed.

When the Turks came to the gates of Anatolia from Central Asia, everyone, friend or foe, knew that the key to that door would fall into the hands of Alpaslan.

When they reached "from Asia to Anatolia like a spearhead", they became both the protector of the oppressed people and the most beautiful representative of Islam, with the sense of justice and right they brought with them.

As we celebrate the victory of the Battle of Manzikert today, we wish the souls of our saintly ancestors and martyrs, who opened a precious door to future generations with this great struggle, to rest in peace and their place in heaven.
