MP FIRAT VISITS ATATÜRK UNIVERSITY ANIMAL HOSPITAL
Abdurrahim Fırat, the Member of Parliament for Erzurum, and Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hacımüftüoğlu, the Rector of Atatürk University, visited the Animal Hospital, which is located within the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. The Animal Hospital, which is a model for the livestock potential of the region and is widely recognised throughout Turkey, is distinguished by its state-of-the-art infrastructure and services.
The facility, the most comprehensive animal hospital in the Eastern Anatolia Region, provides solutions to a wide range of citizens in Turkey who are involved in animal husbandry, in addition to the region. The facility is also home to the sole Mobile Animal Hospital in Turkey, which offers on-site services to animal breeders residing in rural areas and provides services for the diagnosis and treatment of bovine and ovine animals.
Professor Dr. Mustafa Sinan Aktaş, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, and Vice Deans Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ediz Kağan Özgen and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murat Genç accompanied Deputy Fırat and Rector Hacımüftüoğlu during their visit. The delegation was provided with exhaustive information regarding the academic, clinical, and field studies conducted at the hospital by the authorities during their visit to the examination rooms, clinics, and operating theatres.
The visit also included an assessment of the quality of animal health services, the most recent technological infrastructure, and the practical training opportunities available to students. The significance of animal husbandry for the regional economy was underscored by MP Abdurrahim Fırat, who also noted that these health institutions significantly contribute to animal husbandry activities. According to Rector Hacımüftüoğlu, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Animal Hospital is a critical component of both academic education and social service at Atatürk University, as it unites empirical knowledge with the needs of the field.
