Prof. Dr. Mei-Hung Chiu, an Academician in Chemisty in National Taiwan Normal University, was invited by Kazım Karabekir EducationFaculty to give a lecture about “Research and Application of Science Teachingin Taiwan” and then paid a visit to Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı, the Rector ofAtatürk University. Prof. Chiu was accompanied by Prof. Dr. Mustafa Sözbilir who is a voluntary ambassador, responsible for bilateral relations with Taiwan and South Korea.
Prof. Dr. Chiu met Rector Çomaklı regarding possible cooperation between National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) and Atatürk University.
Briefing about Atatürk University, Rector Çomaklı mentioned about New Generation University Design and Transformation and emphasized that Atatürk University is a bridge connecting west with east and vice versa. He also underlined that Atatürk University has also an internationally regional mission beyond nationally regional mission in the country and welcomes the exchange of research, academicians and students with universities in such countries as Taiwan and South Korea in accordance with this scope
Rector Çomaklı articulated that Atatürk University hosts about 2500 students from 87 different countries, these students are considered as guests in Turkey and they try their best to show them Turkish hospitality
Rector Çomaklı also added that these students are introduced with non-governmental organizations and enabled to mingle with society and every one of them will be our cultural ambassador when they go back to their countries.
Extending her thanks to Rector Çomaklı due to close interestand hospitality she experienced in Atatürk University, Prof. Dr. Mei-Hung Chiu expressed that they would like to host Çomaklı as soon as possible and are determined to realize concrete-cooperation project. She also articulated that it is possible to mutually cooperate in the field of integrated STEM (Science, Technology,Engineering and Mathematics) which has been a progressively popular fashion in recent years.
At the end of the visit, Rector Çomaklı presented his guest,Prof. Dr. Mei-Hung Chiu, a number of gifts.
