OLUR DISTRICT MANAGERS VISITED RECTOR ÇOMAKLI

Olur District Governor İlker Eker and Olur Mayor Sıddık Demircan visited Atatürk University Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı in his office to strengthen inter-institutional relations and exchange ideas about various collaborations.
During the visit, the development of the potential of agriculture and animal husbandry in Erzurum and what the Atatürk University, District Governorship and Olur Municipality can do jointly in this regard were discussed.
Rector Çomaklı stated that universities are very important for the cities they are located and that they are one of the primary factors that constitute the basis of development and that they, as members of Atatürk University, have responsibilities in every part of Erzurum. In this context, Çomaklı stated that he paid attention to the visit of the District Governor Eker and Mayor Demircan, and reminded that they frequently make these and similar visits that contribute to the city-university association.

“A Country cannot be Developed unless Cities and Regions are Developed”

Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı pointed out that many factors that start and accelerate development can be counted, but education is the foremost among them:  "Students, grown in educational institutions, form the basis of growth and progress as a country. A country is not considered to be developed without the development of cities and regions. At this point, the importance of the city university and its effect on development are revealed. The most important factor that develops a city is a well-functioning university. We are constantly looking for answers to the question of what we can do for the development of our city. By acting with this awareness and responsibility, we are producing projects for the deficiencies we have identified, carrying out innovative studies for the development of the functioning system.”
Expressing that they are pleased to work in a city where there is an institution like Atatürk University that has greatly contributed and continues to contribute to the education of the country and the development of the society, District Governor Eker and Mayor Demircan thanked Rector Çomaklı for their assistance, as Atatürk University, in agriculture and animal husbandry in the Olur district.
Stating that the farmers were informed by Atatürk University academicians who carried out a program about animal diseases, District Governer Eker and Mayor Demircan said that the Mobile Animal Hospital was also welcoming. They asked Rector Çomaklı for a training on pruning and the cooperative system as well as for support in the analysis of the spa water of Olur district.
