AN EXTRAORDINARY MOVE TOWARDS COOPERATION WITH STAKEHOLDERS

At Atatürk University, Conference of Seeking Stakeholders, which is the third step of the Design and Transformation Project of New Generation University, was held on 7-8 April 2018.

In the conference, which was held in order to seek the ways of contributing to the society better, handling the future of university together with a large group of stakeholders, after the conferences of Seeking Vision and Seeking Students, it was discussed which concrete cooperation projects can meet the needs of Erzurum, the region and Turkey.

The event, which Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı, the rector of Atatürk University, the executives of the university and academics attended, was also attended by the representatives of Governorship of Erzurum, Erzurum Metropolitan Municipality, 9th Corps Command, Gendarmerie Regional Command of Erzurum, Erzurum Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Provincial Directorate of National Education, public institutions, industrialists, business people, non-governmental organisations, entrepreneurs and fund institutions. The representatives of such out-of-Erzurum institutions as TUBİTAK, UNDP, Roketsan, Google, TEGV, Medipol University, Anadolu Etap and GENAR Research also attended the conference.

At the end of the event that lasted for two days, solutions for the existing needs and the future action plans for writing new stories were planned. In the study, new cooperation models and projects in the fields of

Agriculture and Livestock

Tourism

Sport

Education

Software and Computer Technologies

Security

were produced. In addition, suggestions as to how to strengthen the cooperation with the stakeholders were put forward. A series of decisions were made in order to set up a corporate infrastructure and to strengthen the existing one which are necessary to put these suggestions into effect in a short time.

Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı stated that Atatürk University strives for project-based research and development activities and to find the ways of integrating with the society and communicating effectively with the stakeholders. Expressing in his speech that Atatürk University should leave an impression on and cause a change in something with which it interacts, Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı emphasised the importance of cooperation with the local authorities.

Pointing out that it is necessary to develop an interface and to form working platforms in the process of improving Atatürk University’s cooperation with local institutions and organisations, Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı stated that new steps within this scope will be taken in the forthcoming days.
