Ataturk University Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı participated in the 15 July Democracy and National Unity Day events within the scope of the 15 July Democracy and National Unity Day activities, visits to the 15 July Martyrdom and Karskapı Martyrdom in the Asri Cemetery and 15 July Democracy and National Unity Day Guard.

In addition to Rector Çomaklı, Erzurum Governor Okay Memiş, AK Party Erzurum MP M. Emin Öz, 9th Corps Commander Major General Fedai Ünsal, Erzurum Regional Gendarmerie Commander Brigadier General Metin Düz, Erzurum Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Mayor Fevzi Polat, Erzurum Technical University Rector Prof. Dr. Bülent Çakmak, Provincial Police Chief Levent Tuncer, Provincial Gendarmerie Commander Colonel İlker Şimşek, Provincial Mufti Dr. Rüstem Can, AK Party Provincial Chairman İbrahim Küçükoğlu and MHP Provincial Chairman Adem Yurdagül and relatives of martyrs attended the martyrdom visits.

In the programme, after the silence of respect and the singing of the National Anthem, the graves of the martyrs were visited, prayers were offered and carnations were left at the martyrs' graves. Rector Çomaklı, who visited the graves of our martyrs in the cemeteries one by one and recited prayers, took part in the 15 July Democracy and National Unity Day Watch in the evening.

While there were enthusiastic moments at the 15 July Democracy and National Unity Day Guard in front of Erzurum Police House with the participation of the provincial protocol, relatives of martyrs, veterans and citizens, honour plaques were presented to the relatives of martyrs and veterans at the end of the program.

Stating that the Turkish nation is grateful to all martyrs who gave their lives for this cherished homeland, Rector Çomaklı stated that the 15 July Epic is an epic that will guide and guide the nations whose will is interfered with, whose freedom is tried to be destroyed, and whose independence is attempted.

Prof. Dr. Çomaklı: "On the anniversary of 15 July Democracy and National Unity Day, I commemorate with mercy our sainted martyrs who turned the treacherous coup attempt into a feast of democracy with their heroism, blood and lives, and all our martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the sake of our national survival and values, and I express my gratitude to our heroic veterans."
