RECTOR ÇOMAKLI WAS IN THE CAPITAL

Prof Dr.Ömer Çomaklı came together with the directors of institutions and organisations in Ankara. Rector Çomaklı, who paid an official visit for improvement and transformation of the university later attended the opening meeting of “the investment decision support system project of higher education places”

Presentation of Mek-Sis Project Done

The rectorsof universities and their related administrative personnel, instituition delegates, academicians and guests attended to the meeting which was opened by Lütfi Elvan-Minister of Development.

Minister of Development Lütfi Elvan, by indicating that it is the time for both opening a new page which focus on the quality in higher education and making qualitative revolution said “we are launching the investment decision support system project of higher education places (Mek-Sis) in order to change the spatial planning and usage practises and accomplish an approach which focuses on productivity” 

The Minister Elvan Gave Information About theProject

Minister Elvan, indicating that they launched Mek-Sis project for increasing the qualityin the following term and allocating more resource for this kind of projects  to change the spatial planning  and usage practises  and accomplish an approach which focuses on productivity, said “ Within the scope of the project, inventory of university places will be taken according to defined standards , the productivity analyses of classrooms will be made and the infrastructure of decision support system which is related to evaluation of new places request will be made. We are working together with Suleyman Demirel Universityfor carrying out the project. In April, the teams each of which are assigned by our universities will be trained in two rounds in Isparta and evaluations will be made in our universities by these teams.”

In his speech at the meeting, Elvan also said that the number of the universities had reached 185 from 77 since 2002 and they had allocated source of 330 billion Turkish Lira at this period when considered together with the current expenditures and investment expenditures

“This Project will Show the Real Needs of The Universities”

Kindly requesting their maximum sensitivity for this subject, Elvan said:

“In your minds there might occur thoughts like “the Ministry of Development will allocate less sources for universities” or “Our requests for new buildings will be rejected”. Actually, with this project our purpose is totally opposite. As the Ministry, we are launching this project for healthily evaluating the requests came from universities and managing the source allocation process more effectively. We have such universities that some have 4-5 square metre closed area per students while others have 25-30 square metres. There is a matter of imbalance. It is a very important project for not only showing the real need ofthe universities but also it is more fair and transparent.

Eastern Anatolia Observatory was mentioned in TUBITAK Space Institute 

After the meeting, Rector Çomaklı, visited Scientific and Technological Research Councilof Turkey (TUBİTAK) first, was the guest of institute manager, associate professor Lokman Kuzu. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lokman Kuzu, who gave information about aeronautics and space technology in Turkey, said the institute was running projects about telecommunication systems, remote sensing, data processing and aeronautical technology besides satellite technology systems and its subsystemsby considering the aim of providing our country’s technological independency.

Exchanging ideason Astrophysical Research and Application (ATASAM) and Eastern Anatolia Observatory (DAG) with Space Institute manager Assoc. Prof Dr. Lokman Kuzu,Prof. Dr. Çomaklı indicated that the construction of the Eastern Anatolia Observatory,which is the biggest fundamental scientific investment about astrophysics andspace science among Turkey’s Vision 2023 Projects of Turkey has been proceeding at full stream.

Çomaklı  said the telescope of EAO was to work by taking the first light from the Space would come into service in 2020 by cleaning all the effects due to  atmospheric turbulence and added that it would take 7 times higher resolution images from HUBBLE SpaceTelescope.

Rector Çomaklı met with Chief Ombudsman Şeref Malkoç 

Later Rector Çomaklı who came together with Chief Ombudsman Şeref Malkoç, hold a consultation about producing a common idea with state institutions and organisations point.

Indicating that Ataturk University has been carrying out important works on scientific studies,Rector Çomaklı said most of these works consist of the projects would contribute to the Country.

The Chief Ombudsman Şeref Malkoç by thanking to Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı for his kind visit indicated that they were trying to hold their connection tight with the universities. Having stated that they were a new institution, Malkoç said they wanted to create awareness in universities about ombudsman and rightness.

Prof. Dr.Çomaklı met Deputy-Minister of Science, Industry and Technology Assoc. Prof. Dr.Hasan Ali Çelik 

Continuing his visits by meeting Deputy-Minister of Science, Industry and Technology Assoc.Prof. Dr. Hasan Ali Çelik, Prof Dr. Ömer Çomaklı-the Rector of AtatürkUniversity–mentioned about the third generation university model which was practised in many Countries to develop cooperation between industry and university.

The rector Çomaklı who drew attention to the popularity of this model in Turkey: “We see that 3rd generation university is a model which can transform the activities of education, training, research and R&D with scientific data to the benefit of society and do social service. For contributing to development, academic studies certainly needs to be transformed into economic benefit.

Especially referred to the need of values which would improve the potential of our country in the field of technology and produce project Rector Çomaklı mentioned that they are working to direct and encourage academician to this direction.

Deputy-Ministerof Science, Industry and Technology Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hasan Ali Çelik who mentioned that Ataturk University has been contributing the development of Turkey for more than 60 years at drew attention that productivity would increase with inter-institutional dialogue. Çelik who emphasized being qualified and high-added valued of productivity was a must, indicated that Turkey which was among the countries which produce low medium technology once has recently roseto the countries which produce medium-high technology. 

 Deputy-Ministerof Science, Industry and Technology Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hasan Ali Çelik congratulated for his works and thanked for his visit.

The last address to visit of Rector Çomaklı was TRT

Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı the Rector of Ataturk University who finished his visits in the Capital by visiting TRT met with Dr. Süleyman Erdal the Head of External Broadcasting Department of TRT. By emphasizing that TRT with its radio and TV channels turned into an institution which broadcasted around the World, Çomaklı the Rector said: “I find the mission that TRT has undertaken to announce the voices of the oppressed all over the world quite valuable and important.  For this important responsibility, we, as the university, are also ready to provide all thenecessary support by doing our part.”

 Dr. Süleyman Erdal the Head ofExternal Broadcasting Department of TRT who mentioned about the policy of external broadcasting of TRT said that through radio and other media devices, they were carrying on studies for not only promoting Turkey and reflecting the view but  ensuring the stability of ties  between the citizens of Turkish Republic living in abroad, their kin, and  related communities who speaks Turkey Turkish .

Erdal, who thanked the rector Çomaklı, also added that they might have programs with the international students studied at Ataturk University by cooperating TRT Erzurum Region
