RECTOR ÇOMAKLI ATTENDED THE ÇANAKKALE VICTORY COMMEMORATION PROGRAM

Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı, the rector of Atatürk University, participated in the commemorative program that was orchestrated to mark the 18 March Çanakkale Victory.

The program conducted at Karskapı Martyrdom was attended by political, military, and judicial officials of the city, in addition to Rector Çomaklı. In addition to placing carnations on the tombs of the martyrs and reciting prayers and poems that reflected the day's significance, Rector Çomaklı engaged in a brief conversation with the bereaved families and veterans.

To honor their cherished memories, the delegation then visited the Police Martyrs Cemetery, where they prayed and placed carnations on the remains of the valiant police officers who gave their lives for their nation.

Professor Rector assessed the significance of the day, noting the Çanakkale Victory stands as a magnificent testament to the faith, resolve, and patriotism of our cherished nation. It is also regarded as one of the most magnificent epics in world history. Our 252,000 martyrs, who drank the sherbet of martyrdom and traveled to Çanakkale from all over our country and even from our heartland, proclaimed to the world 109 years ago that these lands would eternally remain our homeland. In Çanakkale, it became abundantly evident that no occupying power or its agents harboring nefarious intentions towards our nation can achieve success.

With these sentiments and reflections in mind, we commemorate the 109th anniversary of the Çanakkale Victory and Martyrs' Memorial Day on March 18. We do so with great pride. I bear witness to the lives lost among our martyrs, most notably Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, during the War of Independence, in Çanakkale, and in the struggle against terrorist organizations both domestically and internationally. Their memory fills us with compassion and appreciation. "May their souls rest in peace."
