Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı promulgated a message because of 15 July the Democracy and National Unity Day. Rector Çomaklı stated in his message as in the following:
The flagitious coup attempt, which the terror organisation FETÖ, supported by Fetullah, staged on the night of 15 July,2016 intended for abolishing the democratic structure and the indivisible integrity of the Republic of Turkey was imbedded in history by receiving the deserved answer by our dear nation. Our security forces and our peoples who were of one heart without paying regard to the religious, lingual, racial, ideological, and sectarian discrimination made history on the night of 15 July, which is in the honorable pages of the history.
In addition, 15 July is a sign of “the awareness of the democracy” from the point of view of the attitude which our nation adopted. Our nation protected our homeland without paying regard to any discrimination on that night.
The coup attempt on the night of 15 July led to the results which required the reconstruction in the critical institutions of our state.Depending on the essential that it is implemented within the application of state of emergency in the fundamental law and the consciousness of the constitutional state, the necessary studies were carried out in this period and the good results were obtained.
On the second anniversary of blocking this flagitious coup attempt, Atatürk University is always to study with the youth who are educated depending on the principles of the contemporary education, have got the awareness of the democracy, are aware of their national and moral values, carry the great inheritance which they take over from our rooted past to the future by adopting their own history and culture for our homeland’s perpetuity and is to go on giving our state a back.
On the occassion of the annivesary, I commemorate all our martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the sake of our national perpetuity and values and our people who were martyred on 15 July with mercy and gratitude.
