Ömer Çomaklı, the rector of Atatürk University, actively engaged in the programs organized to commemorate the Liberation of Erzurum from Enemy Occupation on March 12 and the Acceptance of the National Anthem. His participation extended to the events that were conducted across the province on those momentous days.

On the 103rd Anniversary of the Acceptance of the National Anthem and the 106th Anniversary of Erzurum's Liberation from Enemy Occupation, numerous events were held in the city. During the ceremony, which commenced with the adoration of the Atatürk sculpture by the poolside with a wreath, all of our martyrs and veterans were honored with reverence, benevolence, and appreciation. Additionally, the reading of the National Anthem and a moment of silence were observed.

Poem readings, performances by the Erzurum bar team and the Mehter Band, congratulatory messages, speeches on the significance and meaning of the day, and concluding proceedings with visits to the Karskapı and Police Martyrs’ Cemeteries, recitation of the Holy Quran, and prayers rounded out the proceedings.

The Adoption of the March 12 National Anthem and the Commemoration of Mehmet Akif Ersoy ceremony program, themed "The Essence of the Turk, Akif's Promise," were coordinated by the Provincial Directorate of National Education and the Erzurum Governorship as part of the ongoing events hosted by Atatürk University.

Governor Mustafa Çiftci and Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı stopped by the painting exhibition curated by the students of Raci Alkır Fine Arts High School prior to the commencement of the program.

A documentary film chronicling the life of Mehmet Akif Ersoy was screened at the commemorative ceremony, which was attended by city administrative, civil, and military officials, academics, students, and representatives of non-governmental organizations. Poems were recited, and the evening concluded with a musical performance centered on the theme of loyalty to Mehmet Akif Ersoy.
