Atatürk University Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı had several meetings within the scope of his visit to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
Çomaklı went to Nakhchivan at the invitation of the State University Rector Prof. Dr. Elbrus Isayev. He first met with Vasıf Talibov, a deputy and the speaker of the Supreme Assembly of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. In his speech he emphasized that the historical unity of the two neighboring countries has been further consolidated with the steps taken in recent years. Afterwards, Çomaklı came together with Mehmet Emin Kiraz, Consul General of the Republic of Turkey in Nakhchivan, and had a conversation about Turkey's ingrained ties with Nakhchivan and the works planned for the future.
After his visit to the consulate, Rector Çomaklı, who went to Nakhchivan State University for the cooperation between the two universities, attended the meeting held in the senate hall with the participation of his counterpart Rector Prof. Dr. Elbrus Isayev and his team. After the meeting, they stroke a number of agreements on many issues with the protocol signed between the two universities. It was agreed on joint educational, cultural and research activities, exchange of lecturers for lectures and negotiations, exchange of undergraduate and graduate students for joint or independent research.
In the protocol, it was also decided to participate in seminars and academic meetings, exchange academic materials, publications and other information, to offer semester and annual overseas education programs, academic credits and official transcript opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students.
Noting at the signing cermony that it is important for countries to cooperate with each other in various fields, but the most important of all is the one in educational field, Çomaklı said that they cooperate with universities from many countries in this respect.
“A new era has begun with the liberation of Nagorno-Karabakh”Rector Çomaklı said that they do not keep Azerbaijan and Nakhchivan separate from Turkey, emphasizing that the agreements made with the universities of the sister countries are valuable for them.
Stating that he believes that the cooperation with Nakhchivan State University will create a basis for the two institutions to share their experiences and contribute to the transformation of their knowledge into mutual benefit, Prof. Dr. Çomaklı said: “It is not possible to carry out education properly without R&D activities. We will open our doors to Nakhchivan State University not only in education and R&D, but also with undergraduate and graduate programs. We want students to come from Turkey to Nakhchivan and from Nakhichevan to Turkey through exchange programs.”
"Collaboration will be made in the field of health"Rector Çomaklı stated that they had a comprehensive meeting with Nahçıvan State University in the field of health. He made the following remarks: "We are ready to share the knowledge and experience of Atatürk University Research Hospital, which is the center of scientific studies as well as distributing healing with both its research and innovations, which bears the health burden of the region where it is located and neighboring countries,.
Rector Çomaklı, who stated that Atatürk University provided human resources trained in the health of the country for many years, stated that research and development activities continue with academic studies, and as a result, they were ready to share the data obtained with the sister university Nahçıvan State University.
Rector Çomaklı also talked about the liberation of Nagorno-Karabakh after 30 years of captivity, stating that a new era has started after this development. :“Due to the opening of a corridor between Nakhchivan and Azerbaijan in this period, the land connection between Turkey, Azerbaijan and Nakhchivan has contributed to the bilateral relations of the countries. It will make a very significant contribution.”

Stating that he is pleased to host Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı and his team in Nakhchivan, Nakhchivan State University Rector Prof. Dr. Elbrus Isayev said that this visit is important in terms of relations between countries and universities.
Emphasizing that the words of Turkey and Azerbaijan, "One nation, two states", were once again demonstrated to the whole world during the Nagorno-Karabakh War, Isayev said that they would be happy to take part in many joint projects in unity, solidarity and cooperation.
Emphasizing that Nakhchivan State University cooperates with 130 universities in the world, 80 of which are in Turkey, Rector Prof. Dr. Isayev pointed out that the protocols signed with Turkish Universities are special for them, adding that this cooperation will become even more perfect with academic and student exchange programs.
After the signing ceremony, the delegation visited the historical and touristic places of Nakhchivan and then participated in the specially organized concert program.
