RECTOR ÇOMAKLI ATTENDED NEUROSURGERY CONFERENCE

Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı, Rector of Atatürk University, attended the TNA Scientific Conference organized by the Turkish Academy of Neurosurgery (TNA).

The program, which was held with a large number of participants at the Palandöken Dedeman Ski Lodge Hotel, aims to contribute to the advancement of neurosurgery, which is the branch of science that deals with brain and nerve diseases and is commonly known as brain and nerve surgery.

Neurosurgeons monitor and treat conditions such as lumbar and cervical hernias, head and spinal cord traumas, cerebral vascular occlusions, aneurysms, and cerebral haemorrhage, particularly the treatment of tumours in the brain and spinal cord tissue that compress these tissues.

Neurosurgeons enhance the quality of life of patients with their successful surgeries and brain pacemaker operations for diseases related to movement disorders, such as epilepsy and Parkinson's, for which drug treatment is ineffective.

The programme organized by the Turkish Academy of Neurosurgery, is intended to increase the efficacy of such a significant field in scientific studies by addressing it academically and by addressing the open-to-improvement aspects with the participation of field experts.

Rector Çomaklı: "We are proud of the contributions that Turkish Neurosurgery has made to our country and to science around the world."

Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı, the rector of Atatürk University, attended the program and delivered a speech on the subject. He expressed his delight that a scientific conference on such an important topic that impacts human health and comfort of life is being held in Erzurum.

Starting his speech with "I would like to express my pleasure that the 2023 Scientific Conference of the Turkish Academy of Neurosurgery was held in Erzurum, in the 100th year of our Republic, in our city where our vitality and unity were ensured and the foundations of our Republic were laid," Çomaklı said: "In the world of science and technology, where daily developments are taking place at a dizzying pace, we are proud of the contributions of Turkish Neurosurgery. It is evident, given contemporary living conditions, that neurosciences will be more significant and decisive in the future than they are today."

"Our university generates future-oriented perspectives"

Çomakl stated that it is admirable that Turkish neurosurgeons participate in successful and significant technological research in the field of neuroscience and make significant contributions, adding, "Our University, which is the fourth oldest university in our country as of its founding, is proud of its name and achievements, and still bears the pride of hosting and contributing to Cahit Arf's conferences on Artificial Intelligence in the 1950s. Atatürk University, which has continuously raised the quality bar with numerous successful breakthroughs in accordance with the vision of New Generation University and today serves Turkish higher education as a major research university, produces science, makes science, brings scientists together, and creates future perspectives, has hosted numerous congresses, information festivals, workshops, and scientific meetings since its foundation and has supported scientific research.

"Our university, which is a part of your community; We have been at the forefront of our program, we have supported, encouraged, and paved the way, and we intend to continue this support to the neurosurgery clinic, human training, device and other equipment procurement directly and via Scientific Research Projects to the extent that our resources permit. I hope that the conference conducted in Erzurum by your Academy, which plans the programming and implementation of future neurosurgeons' training and equipment, will be fruitful, and I extend my best wishes to you all."

The conference consisted of six sessions.

The conference began with an interactive session on the Academic Writing Workshop, followed by sessions on Current Neurosurgery Education and Neurosurgery Trainers, and concluded with a session on Neurosurgery Under the Corporate Roof.
