As part of the cooperation protocol which was signed between Atatürk University and Yunus Emre Institute, Turkish Summer School Programme which 24 students from 17 countries participated in started. The students who had the opportunity both to learn Turkish language and know the Turkish culture within the context of the programme were hosted by Rector Prof.Dr.Ömer Çomaklı.
The students who attended Turkish Summer School carried out by Turkish Education and Application Center (ATATÖMER) visited Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı and there were very zestful moments during this visit. Rector Çomaklı took a close interest in all of 24 students from 17 countries. He stated that they were very happy to host the prised students from all over the world in Erzurum in this programme which was organised with the cooperation of Yunus Emre Institute which is one of the most important institutions in its own field in the State of the Republic of Turkey and Atatürk University. Prof. Dr. Çomaklı added,“We want all the people on earth to live in their homeland freely both as the state and the nation. People must know each other so that they can live in peace and fraternally. The better we know each other, the more the affection between us is. By this means, tolerance between us develops. You have the opportunity to know both Turkish culture and the cultures of your friends from different countries here. I hope that this introduction will develop the friendship between you, and you will go on meeting your friends whom you have made here after you go back your countries. “
Later Çomaklı listened to the students’ views about Erzurum and Turkey. He said that Erzurum is an auld cultural city and he is sure the students will leave Erzurum happily.
The visit by the students of Turkish Summer School ended with Rector Çomaklı’s giving gifts to the guest students and having a souvenir photograph.
