RECTOR ÇOMAKLI MET WITH INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS AT THE IFTAR PROGRAM

Ataturk University Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı and his management met at the iftar table with 300 international students from 50 countries studying at the university.

Atatürk University, which is the center of education, training, research, development and science, continues to stand by its students by taking active roles outside of academic studies. Meeting with international students at the iftar dinner on the occasion of Ramadan, Atatürk University Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı broke the fast at the iftar table with the students.

Rector Çomaklı chatted with international students before the fast-breaking time and listened to students' problems, opinions and requests. Stating that every service provided is for students, Prof. Dr. Çomaklı opened his iftar with the students with the recitation of the Qur'an and then the call to prayer.

International students who came to Atatürk University to study from all over the world said that they were sad to spend the month of Ramadan away from their country, but that they were not alone in Erzurum. Stating that they are happy to be hosted by Rector Prof. Dr. Çomaklı, the students, who brought together various nationalities at the same table.  They thanked Çomaklı.

“International Students Are Our Trust”

Rector Çomaklı wishing that the month of Ramadan will bring peace, brotherhood and tranquility to all humanity, especially to the Islamic world and the Turkish world; He stated that he was very pleased to meet with valuable students who made important contributions to the internationalization of Atatürk University, which aims to serve the society, on the occasion of the fast-breaking dinner.

Rector Çomaklı said, “I believe that the environment of social peace that we have created together in our beautiful country is the most important value to be left to future generations” and continued his speech as follows: “International students are our trust. We are getting richer together with you. Thanks to cultural interaction, we become a partner in your lives, and we find the opportunity to express and convey our own values. We approach all our students with an embracing and caring approach. We are your family and home in Erzurum. We see all of you as our children, regardless of domestic or foreign discrimination. As a university, we are doing more than we can do and we will continue to do so, so that you do not feel alienated.

“We Are Confident You Will Be A Volunteer Envoy of Turkey”

Rector Çomaklı stated that, as an educational institution, they are a university that aims to crown universal values with local, national and religious values as well as carrying their mission to an international platform: It always strives to keep its doors open to different geographies, both in terms of education and training. As the Atatürk University family, we have adopted the basic principle of turning differences into cultural colors with a holistic understanding, and looking at each of our students as our own children with the principle of tolerance and hospitality. We are very happy to host hundreds of young people from many different countries of the world, from thousands of kilometers away, who have grown up with different cultures and different national values. We are sure that you will be a volunteer ambassador of Turkey when you complete your education here and return to your own countries, families and lives.”

“We Witness  Common Faith of the Muslim”

Stating that they share not only the food but also their hopes for the future, Çomaklı said: “In these special moments, you witness patience and the embodiment of the common belief of thousands of Muslims at the same time. We are very happy to share this spiritual pleasure with you. I wish our Allah to accept our fasts and prayers, and I thank each and every one of you for cheering up our iftar table.”

The iftar program ended with the students chatting with Rector Çomaklı.
