Atatürk University Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı met with Prof. Dr. Ümit Kocabıçak, President of the Higher Education Quality Board (YÖKAK) and Assoc. prof. Dr. Salim Atay, Head of the Presidential Human Resources Office.
Within the scope of the visits, which took place in the capital Ankara and the Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Atilla Keskin, who is responsible for quality processes, Rector Çomaklı made his first visit to YÖKAK President Prof. Dr. Ümit Kocabıçak. Rector Çomaklı shared information with Prof. Dr. Kocabıçak about the New Generation University Design and Transformation Project, which is the role model of Atatürk University and taken as an example by many universities.
Rector Çomaklı: ‘We are taking all the necessary steps on the Quality Journey’
Stating that they carefully fulfil all the work that needs to be done in order to raise the quality standards of Atatürk University's education, research and administrative activities, Çomaklı said that various changes have been experienced in different parameters of higher education as in many areas of life. Çomaklı noted that every change, especially in research, education, training and administrative activities, also increases the quality standards and said: ‘As a university, we endeavour to carefully comply with every change in the field and take all the steps that need to be taken in this sense.’
Rector Çomaklı stated that they frequently carry out these and similar visits and that the meetings held are important in terms of consulting the latest status of institutional activities: ‘We continue our work in line with our core values and strategic goals with the determination to carry our University, which is also a research university, to the highest levels. I would like to thank Prof. Dr. Ümit Kocabıçak, President of YÖKAK, and the entire YÖKAK family for supporting us in our quality journey, which we set out on with the understanding of a quality culture focused on developing the feelings of satisfaction, belonging and commitment of all our stakeholders in the light of corporate principles with peace, trust and success, and I wish them ease in their work.’
President Kocabıçak: ‘Atatürk University has made significant progress’
Stating that YÖKAK has made a great contribution to the higher education system in Turkey since its establishment and that they have been working hard to fulfil this mission since they took office, President Kocabıçak gave information to the guests about the processes affecting higher education, the working areas of the Quality Board and the evaluation methods.
Prof. Dr. Kocabıçak said: ‘We develop and implement new policies to raise the quality standards of universities. I believe that our work, which we carry out with the awareness of continuous improvement and development, will carry our universities to higher levels at national and international level. Atatürk University has also made significant progress with the breakthroughs it has made and the transformation processes it has implemented. With these thoughts, I would like to thank Rector Çomaklı for his kind visit and wish success to the Atatürk University family.’
‘Career Fair serves as a bridge between students and the sector’
Following the visit to YÖKAK, Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı visited the Presidential Human Resources Office and met with President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Salim Atay. Pointing out that they have been in close relations with the Human Resources Office since its establishment, Rector Çomaklı said that the Regional Career Fairs, which have been organised three times within Atatürk University, have achieved a significant success in bringing students and sector representatives together. Stating that many students have jobs after graduation with the connections they have established through these fairs, Rector Çomaklı thanked Assoc. Prof. Dr. Salim Atay, Head of the Human Resources Office, who was instrumental in the creation of such an opportunity.
President Atay: ‘Atatürk University has achieved important status’
Emphasising that Atatürk University has an immeasurable value in terms of higher education in the region and the country, especially in the city where it is located, President Atay said that he wholeheartedly congratulated everyone who contributed to the Career Fair, which covers the Eastern Anatolia Region and is held regularly every year, reaching a wide audience. In this direction, Atay reminded that Atatürk University is the owner of the title of ‘The Most Satisfied Career Fair by Students’ and said: ‘I would like to thank Rector Çomaklı, the architect of this success process of Atatürk University, which does not leave the students alone in their career journeys and is with them even after graduation, which has both achieved the status of Research University and contributes intensively to the quality process, for all his efforts and efforts, and I wish him and the university family ease in their work.’
