RECTOR HACIMÜFTÜOĞLU ENGAGED IN MEETINGS WITH THE DEFENSE INDUSTRY
The 6th Defense Industry Meeting, which was jointly convened by the İstanbul Chamber of Industry (ISO) and SAHA İstanbul to fortify the Turkish defense industry's national and local framework, was extremely well-attended.
The event was attended by Atatürk University Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hacımüftüoğlu, Istanbul Deputy Governor Yücel Gemici, Industry and Technology Deputy Minister Çetin Ali Dönmez, Republic of Turkey Presidency Defense Industry Vice President Gökhan Uçar, and managers of main industry companies. The event was hosted by ISO Board Chairman Erdal Bahçıvan and SAHA İstanbul Vice President and Roketsan General Manager Murat İkinci. Over 500 company representatives convened for over 2,000 bilateral encounters during the meeting, which featured 70 tables and 18 primary contractor companies.
Erdal Bahçıvan, Chairman of the ISO Board, underscored the defense industry's significance for economic development and technological infrastructure, in addition to its military capabilities, during the inauguration speech. Bahçıvan stated, "The defense industry's localization rate has increased from 20% to 80%, which serves as evidence of its strategic importance to our national independence."
The event also included a panel titled "A Look at the Turkish Defense Industry from the Perspective of Technology, Development, and Cooperation." ASELSAN General Manager Ahmet Akyol was also a speaker on the panel, which discussed the most recent advancements in the sector and future objectives.
Rector Hacımüftüoğlu: "We Are Resolute in Our Determination to Participate in the Process as Universities"
The event was also attended by Atatürk University Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hacımüftüoğlu and Engineering Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. İhsan Efeoğlu, who underscored the significance of university-industry collaboration in the defense sector. Rector Hacımüftüoğlu stated, "The defense industry is crucial in the transfer of scientific knowledge from universities to industry." At Atatürk University, we are committed to enhancing the value of this sector through our technological development initiatives, research and development, and the training of our human resources. He stated, "We are resolute in our commitment to take an active role as universities in the process of assisting Turkey in achieving its National Technology Move objectives."
The 6th Defense Industry Meeting established the groundwork for significant partnerships for the sustainable development of the Turkish defense industry, in addition to significantly enhancing industry-university partnership. Universities and industry representatives reached an agreement to enhance their collaboration under the National Technology Move.
