RECTOR HACIMÜFTÜOĞLU PARTICIPATED IN THE INTERNATIONAL VACCINOLOGY CONGRESS

The 5th International Vaccine Science Congress, which is being hosted by Erciyes University in Kayseri, commenced today.

The congress, which will continue from October 16-18, 2024, was attended by a significant number of scientists from both domestic and international locations. "Innovative Vaccine Technologies" was selected as the theme for this year's congress. The event will address the most recent advancements in the field of vaccinology, as well as new projects and collaboration opportunities for students.

Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hacımüftüoğlu, the Rector of Ataturk University, addressed the significance of vaccinology for both Turkey and the world during the inauguration program of the congress. During the pandemic, Prof. Dr. Hacımüftüoğlu stated, "The critical role of vaccines on human health has been once again revealed." The development of vaccines that are founded on innovative technologies is of paramount significance in the shaping of the health sector and the future of societies at this juncture. Addressing youthful scientists, Hacımüftüoğlu emphasised Atatürk University's involvement in vaccine science research and the emergence of scientific collaborations and new projects at such congresses.

Prof. Dr. Kemal Memişoğlu, the Minister of Health, also participated in the congress via video conference and extended his congratulations to the youthful researchers and scientists. The global impact of Erciyes University's activity in this discipline was underscored by Rector Prof. Dr Fatih Altun.

The congress will feature sessions on a variety of innovative topics, including vaccine designs that utilise artificial intelligence, viral vector technologies, mRNA vaccines, and inactive vaccines. In addition to vaccine technologies, the congress will address the socio-political implications of vaccine policies, vaccine studies against cancer and neurological diseases, veterinary vaccines, and novel vaccines developed to combat infectious diseases.

Young scientists will receive recognition for their effective presentations at the conclusion of the congress. The objective of these awards is to foster the growth of international collaborations and to motivate new researchers in the scientific community.
