In the Official Gazette dated August 14, 2020,  re-appointed as the Rector of Atatürk University with the approval of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı,  received the Rector's certificate from YÖK President Prof. Dr. M. A. Yekta Saraç at the ceremony held at the Presidency of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK).

"I would like to express my gratitude to our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who deemed me worthy of this important duty." said Çomaklı adding: “ I would like to extend my gratitude to Our Higher Education Council president Prof. Dr. M. A. Yekta Saraç, the members of YÖK and my colleagues who have contributed to the success of our university, the Atatürk University family and everyone who did not spare their support ”.

Rector Çomaklı stated that he is happy to be the Rector of a university that has made important contributions to the higher education of the country,  has trained and continues to educate many scientists and that provides added value to its region and country. Stating that they will complete the unfinished works and bring new projects to the university, he said that they will continue to work in unity and solidarity with all members of Atatürk University.
