PAINTING DEPARTMENT STUDENTS DISPLAYED THEIR WORKS

Atatürk University Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı attended the opening of the Print Painting Exhibition organized by the students of the Fine Arts Faculty (GSF) Painting Department.

In addition to Rector Çomaklı, at the opening of the exhibition held in the Art Gallery; Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts Prof. Dr. Yunus Berkli, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Design Süleyman Toy, faculty members of Faculty of Arts and many students attended. Faculty of fine Arts Painting Department Lecturer. At the exhibition organized by the second, third and fourth grade students of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cemile Didem Özışık and Assoc. Prof. Dr.  Ayça Alper Akçay, 10 works of 65 students studying at screen printing elective workshops during the term were exhibited in the exhibition.

Head of Painting Department Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cemile Didem Özışık stated that with the exhibition, they aimed to introduce printmaking techniques, which are also traditional but not known enough, apart from the canvas as a traditional painting method,  adding that the Printmaking Exhibition, which is one of the works carried out to raise awareness about alternative production forms and to contribute to the art environment of Erzurum, not only shows the talents of the students, but also contributes to their personal development.

Stating that the Faculty of Fine Arts has brought important artists to our country and will continue to do so in the future, Dean of Faculty of Fine Arts Prof. Dr. Yunus Berkli, on the other hand, said that it is gratifying to share the excitement of Faculty of Fine Arts students, who are the artists of the future. “Art enables people to interact with their environment, to be more sensitive to what is happening around them, to think freely and to express themselves freely. The most effective way to reach beauty is art. Art beautifies life and adds value to people and their environment. It provides a completely different perspective to people and societies. I would like to thank our Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı valuing art and artist, which has such a great importance, both for his participation and for bringing us to our art gallery, which we feel a great lack of, and congratulate our students for their work.” he added.

Making a brief statement at the opening of the exhibition, Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı thanked the academicians and students who contributed to the preparation of the exhibition and said: “Our university provides the necessary support to all our units in terms of providing basic needs and creating physical facilities. Atatürk University, which has 65 years of experience, is more intensely interested in culture and art activities and academic deepening studies within the scope of the New Generation University Design and Transformation Project. In this process, we say on every occasion that the field of culture and art is among our priorities and we make our plans accordingly. In this context, I hope that our exhibition will be beneficial, and I wish success to our students in their studies”.
