A SYMPOSIUM ON HEALTH SERVICES WAS CONDUCTED, FOCUSING ON A MULTIDISCIPLINARY APPROACH.

Atatürk University organized the conference titled "Multidisciplinary Perspective on Health Services in the 100th Anniversary of the Republic."

Professor, the Rector of Atatürk University, participated in the event that took place in the Blue Hall of the Cultural Center. Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı, Yakutiye Mayor Mahmut Uçar, City Hospital Chief Physician Assoc. Dr. İbrahim Hakkı Tör, Symposium Presidents, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Nezih Kök from the Faculty of Medicine, and Prof. Dr. Zeynep Karaman Özlü from the Faculty of Nursing, along with participants, academicians, and students, were present at the event.

Professor Dr. Kök stated that our country's progress will persist with a favorable momentum in the upcoming century.

In his opening speech at the symposium, Ahmet Nezih Kök, the Head of the Forensic Medicine Department at Atatürk University Faculty of Medicine, expressed his confidence in the Republic of Turkey's ability to maintain its esteemed, powerful, and influential position in the world. Despite the negative efforts of divisive and destructive forces both domestically and internationally, Kök firmly believes that Turkey, as a unified entity with its land and people, will continue to thrive and build upon the positive momentum it has achieved in its first century as it enters its second century.

Asserting their commitment to safeguarding this cultural legacy optimally and transmitting it to subsequent generations, Professor Dr. Kök expresses gratitude towards the rector Çomaklı, who provided support for this symposium. The symposium's objective is to showcase the advancements and achievements in the field of health during the first century of our Republic. It is held with the understanding that we are the successors and protectors of the 16 Turkish States established since Mete Khan. He also the made the following remarks: "We extend our profound appreciation to Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı, and honor the sacrifices made by our martyrs, veterans, and healthcare professionals who have contributed to Turkish medicine. We particularly pay tribute to Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, and wish for their enduring legacy to continue for many more centuries."

Chief Physician Tör states that the team will create effective solution proposals by using their diverse areas of expertise.  

The Chief Physician of Erzurum City Hospital, Associate Professor, İbrahim Hakkı Tör, took up to the stage,  expressing his participation in the symposium as a means to expedite the progress made in healthcare services from a multidisciplinary standpoint, in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Republic of Turkey. Chief Physician Tör stressed the paramount importance of health as the most precious asset of any society. He highlighted that since the inception of our Republic, significant emphasis has been placed on healthcare services. Nevertheless, the intricate health issues we encounter in the 21st century necessitate the adoption of a more inventive and all-encompassing approach. Within this particular framework, we are resolute in our commitment to implement significant measures by incorporating a diverse range of disciplines into healthcare services. "Through collaboration with physicians, nurses, engineers, and other healthcare professionals across various domains, we aim to cultivate innovative solutions that enhance service efficacy and benefit our patients," he stated.

Assoc. Dr. Tör emphasizes that success in health services relies on collaboration and cooperation. In light of this, on the occasion of our establishment's centennial, we invite all healthcare professionals to unite with interdisciplinary teams and exchange our expertise. Dear participants, we are gathered here to approach the future of health services with a multidisciplinary viewpoint. As we commemorate the centenary of the Republic of Turkey, we are prepared to make new achievements in the realm of healthcare, while acknowledging the power of unity. "I express my gratitude for your active involvement and assistance, and I anticipate our collective achievement of a more promising future in the realm of healthcare services," he stated.

Rector Çomaklı states that our university is one of the top institutions in the health system.

The speech of Atatürk University Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı commenced with an emphasis on the Turkish nation's remarkable contributions to world history, asserting that this legacy will persist throughout the Turkish Century. Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı states that our nation has achieved several triumphs throughout its history, particularly in the field of medicine, where significant discoveries and studies have left a lasting impact on history. It has successfully treated several illnesses, discovered remedies for previously untreatable issues, and produced significant advancements in the field of health research. In line with this ongoing heritage, our nation has achieved significant advancements in recent years and developed a novel system that will serve as a global benchmark. Atatürk University is a significant proponent of this system, playing a crucial role in its perpetuation and advancement. Our university possesses one of the most ancient medical faculties in our nation, and it stands as a prominent institution within our country's health system due to the caliber of physicians it educates and the research and development endeavors it undertakes. I can affirm that we possess the necessary equipment and qualifications to effortlessly establish a Health University within our institution. "With our current capacity and human resources, we have the potential to rank among the top 500 universities worldwide in the field of health," he stated.

"Our commitment is to exert greater effort in support of marginalized individuals worldwide."

Rector Çomaklı highlighted that our country's achievements in the defense industry will be replicated in the health sector, leading to the development of a new system. He stated, "Turkey will dominate the next century." The recent events in Gaza have underscored the urgent need for increased productivity and effort. Only a robust state had the capacity to vociferously oppose the ongoing persecution. We, in conjunction with the higher authorities of our nation, assert that this constitutes a genocide and it is imperative that it be terminated expeditiously. We are committed to persevering, battling, and maintaining unwavering determination, not alone for our nation but also for the marginalized and suffering individuals across the globe. Assuming the role of Türkiye, it is incumbent upon us to fulfill this obligation. "I extend my congratulations to those who facilitated the organization of the symposium, which I anticipate will bring new opportunities in the field of health. I am optimistic that it will yield positive outcomes," he expressed.


A discussion was held on the evolution of academic disciplines from the time of the Republic to the present.

The first session of the symposium was conducted by Prof. Dr. Zülal Özkurt and Zeynep Çakır of the Faculty of Medicine. The presentation titled "Plathic View of Medicine from the Republic to the Present" was delivered by Ahmet Nezih Kök, who serves as the Head of the Department of Forensic Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine. Additionally, Prof. Dr. Serhat Vançelik's talk on "Health Policies from the Republic to the Present" marked the conclusion of the event.

The second session of the symposium was moderated by Prof. Dr. Selahattin Çelebi, a member of the Faculty of Medicine, and Prof. Dr. Yücel Kadıoğlu, the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy. The session concluded with presentations on the topics of "Dentistry from the Republic to the Present" by Prof. Dr. Sera Derelioğlu from the Faculty of Dentistry, "Pharmacy from the Republic to the Present" by Prof. Dr. Fatma Demirkaya Miloğlu from the Faculty of Pharmacy, "Nursing from the Republic to the Present" by Prof. Dr. Reva Balcı Akpınar from the Faculty of Nursing, and finally, "Midwifery from the Republic to the Present" by Prof. Dr. Hava Özkan from the Faculty of Health Sciences.

The symposium concluded with an assessment of prevailing concerns, deliberation on interdisciplinary domains, and a session for questions and answers.
