SIGNATURES HAVE BEEN SIGNED FOR COOPERATION FOR THE DEFENSE INDUSTRY

A cooperation protocol was signed between the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) Defense Industry Research and Development Institute (SAGE) and Atatürk University Astrophysics Research and Application Center.

Atatürk University, which hosts the Eastern Anatolia Observatory, one of the most important projects carried out by Turkey in the field of astronomy, continues its scientific and academic cooperation without interruption in this context.

Atatürk University, which has signed protocols with many institutions and organizations for various purposes, has finally signed an agreement with TÜBİTAK SAGE to conduct joint studies. With the protocol signed in order to make maximum use of the existing infrastructures, infrastructural resources and the existing capabilities of the two institutions, the issues that will form the basis of mutual cooperation in the purchase of goods, services and consultancy services for R&D activities and existing resources and capabilities were determined.

Cooperation between the parties regarding R&D, infrastructure establishment activities and procurement of goods, services and consultancy services in the fields of activity of TÜBİTAK SAGE and ATASAM, in particular; will allow for joint studies and projects on optics, space sciences and technologies, atmosphere, automation, photonics and optical devices and software, and postgraduate studies will be carried out.

“DAG will fill the longitude gap in the northern hemisphere”

Stating that the Eastern Anatolia Observatory (DAG) will take its place among the respected observatories in the world when the project is completed, Atatürk University Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı said that with its equipment and technology, Turkey will be the most sensitive eye in the world. Stating that the Eastern Anatolian Observatory, which was established at an altitude of 3170 meters, has the title of the third observatory established at the highest altitude in the world, Rector Çomaklı added that since there is no other telescope of this size in its location, DAG will fill the longitude gap in the Northern Hemisphere with this feature.

Rector Çomaklı stated that they are very pleased that such an important project is being carried out within Atatürk University, and that DAG attracted the attention of institutions even during its construction, and that they signed cooperation agreements with many organizations in this context, and lastly, important moves towards the defense industry of our country. He said that TÜBİTAK SAGE, which performs the task, has also been added.
