SECTOR/FOCUS AREA COORDINATORS CONVENED UNDER THE PRESIDENCY OF RECTOR ÇOMAKLI
Meeting with the managers of the Sector/Focus Area Coordinatorships established during the Research University process, Atatürk University Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı and his administration made the necessary plans for the implementation of business models.
After the Higher Education Council Research Universities Meeting, where the Focus Area Matching of the institutions selected as Research Universities by YÖK was done, Rector Çomaklı and his administration met with the unit coordinators to discuss the works of the Sector/Field Focus Coordinatorships established within Atatürk University and to plan the future process, underlining that an important process for the University will be managed more successfully with consultation.
Rector Çomaklı said: "in the Higher Education Council Research Universities Meeting held with the participation of YÖK President Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, various matches were done with the priority fields of the universities as well as the fields of health, advanced technology and social sciences in which they are competent, and that in this context, coordinatorships related to the fields determined within Atatürk University were established and works started without wasting time."
Rector Çomaklı: “We Need to Contribute to solve the Problems That Need to be Handled”
Rector Çomaklı stated that the University-Based Focus Area Matching project overlaps with the work approach put into practice by Atatürk University in line with the New Generation University Design and Transformation Project. Rector Çomaklı also said: "As a research university, we need to contribute to the problems that are expected to be solved by us discharging our responsibilities with a concrete and beneficial understanding for the society."
Noting that Atatürk University aims to carry its research approach to a new stage with its 65 years of knowledge, experience and background, Çomaklı said that with the realization of this target, it is inevitable to be among the top 500 universities in the world and among the top 10 universities in our country. Stating that they have undertaken many important national and international research projects, Prof. Dr. Çomaklı added that they will respond to all expectations by producing research-oriented entrepreneurial solutions in this new era that has started with a research university.

As a result of the evaluations of the Council of Higher Education, Atatürk University was matched in the fields of Chemistry and Food Supply Security, which are among the sector headings in the 11th Development Plan. In addition, Atatürk University proved its competency in the fields of Clinical Research-Vaccine in the field of Health, Smart and Innovative Materials in the field of Science / Engineering, Space Sciences and Satellite Technologies and Artificial Intelligence Technologies, and in the field of Social Sciences and Education, which has proved its competence in various fields. Atatürk University, which was matched in 15 fields in total, became one of the top 5 universities among the state research universities with the highest number of fields matched.
