STRATEGY AND ACTION PLAN FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS WORKSHOP SERIES ORGANISED

The first phase of the Strategy and Action Plan for Sustainable Development Goals Workshop series was held at Atatürk University with the participation of internal and external stakeholders. The workshop series, which addressed all Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), was held at Atatürk University Application Hotel under the coordination of Research University Monitoring and Evaluation Office for 4 days with the participation of internal and external stakeholders.

In order to create the strategy and action plan of Atatürk University for the Sustainable Development Goals, 16 different workshops were organised for each goal. Each workshop was completed under the moderation of academicians who are experts in their fields. Experts from different sectors came together and exchanged ideas. The workshops also provided an opportunity to share best practices, discuss strategies and develop collaborative action proposals.

165 Internal Stakeholders and 84 External Stakeholders Participated

The workshops hosted by Atatürk University were attended by academic and administrative staff and students, as well as representatives of public institutions and organisations and non-governmental organisations representing the region and the city. 165 internal stakeholders and 84 external stakeholders participated in the workshop, contributing to the adoption of an inclusive approach by bringing together different perspectives. Each workshop addressed issues specific to that goal and organised sessions where experts from relevant sectors came together to discuss solutions.

The workshops aimed to develop a strategy and action plan specific to Atatürk University to produce solutions to the problems of the region and the city in order to realise the Sustainable Development Goals and to create new collaborations in this context.

Sustainable Development Goals for the Future of Humanity were discussed

In the workshops, all sustainable development goals were discussed under the headings of promoting the use of clean energy, combating climate change, combating hunger, sustainable management of water resources, the role of women in society, peace and justice, health, education, economic growth, sustainable cities and settlements, industry and innovation, reducing inequalities, responsible production and consumption, combating poverty, and protecting water and land ecosystems.

In these 16 workshops, groups specially formed for each sustainable development goal carried out comprehensive studies, and in line with the results obtained, a series of recommendations were put forward to determine the necessary steps and formulate strategies. In the SDG17 Partnerships for the Goals workshop, these recommendations will continue to be discussed for their effective implementation and realisation.

The details of the recommendations will be discussed at the SDG17 Partnerships for the Goals Workshop

In order to effectively implement and realise the Sustainable Development Goals, the SDG17 Partnerships for the Goals workshop, which will involve university senior management, will provide an environment to assess the feasibility of the proposed strategies, identify possible obstacles and guide the implementation process. In addition, the workshop will address the identification of the resources required for the successful implementation of the proposed strategies and the establishment of financing mechanisms. Participants will discuss how these strategies can be implemented at local, regional and national levels, how relevant stakeholders can cooperate, and how a monitoring and evaluation mechanism can be established to track results.

Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı thanked the internal and external stakeholders who actively participated in the workshop series on Sustainable Development Goals and contributed to the successful realisation of the programme.

Stating that different perspectives came together and various experiences were shared with the participation of all stakeholders, Rector Çomaklı, as the university administration, stated that the participants made valuable contributions to the success of the workshop series and that the support of the stakeholders is important in the implementation of the emerging strategies and actions.
