SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE: UNIVERSITY-INDUSTRY COLLABORATION
An important collaboration on sustainable agriculture and organic plant production has been inked by Atatürk University. The production, education, and research of organic medicinal and aromatic plants will be expanded by the protocol signed by Atatürk University Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hacımüftüoğlu and Agrokur Organic and Medicinal Aromatic Plants Inc. Board Chairman Hasan Okur.
The objective of the protocol is to cultivate organic medicinal and aromatic plants on 25 decares of land that is affiliated with Atatürk University. The parties will implement sustainable agricultural methods to support education, research, and production activities in this direction. Irrigated agricultural practices and organic plant production will be the primary focus of the endeavor.
A New Era Commences in the Field of Medicinal Aromatic Plants
By providing academic support within the framework of the protocol, Atatürk University will contribute to the education and training activities of students. In addition, Agrokur Organic Inc. will provide infrastructure and logistic support to facilitate the production of seedlings of a variety of plants, including İzmir thyme, sage, rosemary, and lemon balm. Each plant will undergo both irrigated and dry agricultural trials.
Academic studies and agricultural production initiatives will be promoted by the protocol. The income generated from agricultural production from the studies conducted by the Atatürk University Plant Production Application and Research Center Directorate will be allocated to the university's research.
In his statement regarding the protocol, Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hacımüftüoğlu expressed his enthusiasm for the opportunity to assume a pioneering role in the production of organic plants and sustainable agricultural practices by Atatürk University. I am of the opinion that this collaboration will be beneficial for the advancement of regional development and scientific research.
Hasan Okur, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Agrokur Organic and Medicinal Aromatic Plants Inc., stated, "This collaboration with the university is a significant development in both the sector and the scientific community." Our objective is to promote sustainability through our initiatives that promote organic agriculture.

The project will encompass the establishment of irrigation systems, the provision of essential machinery, and the establishment of the infrastructure required for agricultural production. Furthermore, the university will generate revenue from the products it acquires, which will be allocated to its research endeavors. The protocol will remain in effect for a period of four years from the date of signature.
