A MILESTONE IN HISTORY! DAG TELESCOPE IS ON THE WAY, IT IS COMING ...

Despite the pandemic, Atatürk University continues its studies both domestically and abroad. In this sense, the telescope to be used in the Eastern Anatolian Observatory (DAG), which is a part of the National Space Program and is among the vision projects of our country, set out to be brought to Erzurum.

Atatürk University Rector Prof. Dr. Omar Çomaklı, a 10-year vision in the area of Turkey's space policies, strategies, objectives, and the National Space Program, which determined the project President Recep Tayyip Erdogan also emphasized that the East Anatolian Observatory of (DWI) said that the telescope is on the way.

100 Tons Telescope Is Being Brought by A Fleet Of 7 Trucks

Stating that the DAG Telescope, of which factory tests were completed in Italy and is planned to arrive in 2020, was delayed especially due to the slow course of the pandemic process in Italy, Rector Çomaklı stated that the telescope was brought to our country by obtaining special permissions from abroad and domestically with many high-level meetings and contacts. Çomaklı stated that the DAG Telescope, which set out from Gebze customs with a fleet of 7 trucks (100 tons) after customs procedures and transportation planning, will be brought to Atatürk University on February 26, 2021: “3 of the parts are of large size and tonnage, the determination of the special road route and along the way We aim to take our telescope, which set out to come to Erzurum under conditions such as escort, to the DAG campus in June after the road improvement and asphalting works after we have taken it under protection in the hangar we allocated. "
