Attending a series of meetings in Ankara, the capital of Turkey, Atatürk University Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hacımüftüoğlu visited Prof. Dr. Orhan Aydın, named President of the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK), at his office. Within the scope of the visit, Rector Hacımüftüoğlu anticipated that the close ties between the two institutions would get even more reinforced and wished Prof. Dr. Aydın success in his new position.
It was underlined during the visit that the current cooperation between Atatürk University and TUBITAK greatly helps Turkey's scientific and technical advancement. In this regard, it was noted that the two institutions' combined efforts in recent years have been very important in raising university research capability.

Rector Prof. Dr. Hacımüftüoğlu and TÜBİTAK President Prof. Dr. Aydın underlined during the visit the importance of expanding the current collaboration possibilities in order to enhance Turkey's scientific infrastructure. Particularly underlined were issues like modernising research facilities and supporting new scientists as well as additional assistance for academic initiatives run at institutions.
Prof. Dr. Hacımüftüoğlu said that Atatürk University would want to deepen its cooperation with TÜBİTAK in research and development activities and that TÜBİTAK's support of the scientific studies of universities is of vital relevance. In this direction, Rector Hacımüftüoğlu underlined the need of the realisation of new projects between the two institutions and the importance of joint studies to be carried out especially in strategic areas, and added that joint work with all institutions in the academic field, where competition is very intense, will help institutional success.

President Aydın 'Our Priority is Cooperation with Universities'.

President of TÜBİTAK Prof. Dr. Orhan Aydın expressed his pleasure with the great collaboration with Atatürk University and underlined the great significance of the links developed with universities for Turkey's scientific future. Prof. Dr. Aydın further said that TUBITAK's top priorities in the new period include building collaborative projects with universities all around Turkey, particularly at Atatürk University, and that all required assistance would be supplied to carry out scientific research at international standards.
