WORKSHOP ON THEORETICAL APPROACHES IN TOURISM COMMUNICATION (MARKETING PERSPECTIVE I) WAS HELD HOSTED BY ATATÜRK UNIVERSITY
Atatürk University organized a "Workshop on Theoretical Approaches in Tourism Communication (Marketing Perspective I)" in which two distinct fields of study collaborated and shared insights on areas of work that were essentially identical.
Attendees of the workshop, which was conducted at the Nenehatun Culture and Performance Center, included tourism and communication faculty members, graduate students, and researchers engaged in the pertinent field. During the initial session of the workshop, two distinct disciplines formulated methodologies predicated on their own theoretical frameworks. During the second session, the participants convened to deliberate on potential collaborative approaches for the work at hand.
The workshop underscored the significant influence that proper or improper utilization of communication channels can have, whether positive or negative. It was also agreed upon that this characteristic is prevalent in the tourism industry and that conducting a scientific investigation into it would benefit both disciplines. Socio-psychological approaches were utilized to investigate issues in the disciplines of tourism and communication. Furthermore, significant emphasis was placed on the communication that was established among all stakeholders in the tourism sector and its implications for the digital environment. Within this particular framework, the participants examined numerous social psychology theories with the intention of eradicating persistent communication obstacles for sector representatives and consumers, particularly in the tourism industry, averting disruptions in the internal operations of businesses, generating strategies to surmount the negative experiences of tourists, and promoting diversity.
The outcomes of the workshop will aid in the growth and advancement of two disciplines.
The program emphasizes that the tourism industry is a highly dynamic sector comprising numerous processes, and that the implementation of communication technologies and methods in tourism businesses primarily impacts operational, structural, and strategic levels. Additionally, it increases competitiveness, flexibility, interaction, efficiency, and productivity while decreasing communication and process costs. The number of participants who reported an increase They highlighted the necessity for comprehensive and transparent regulation of communication technologies across all domains and aspects of tourism, attributing this to its inherent structure.
Assoc. Prof. Sait Sinan ATILGAN, a member of the Faculty of Communication's faculty, presided over the workshop alongside Assoc. Prof. Zafer Türkmendağ, a member of the Faculty of Tourism's faculty. A faculty member from the Faculty of Communication also served as the workshop's moderator and secretariat. Faculty of Tourism member Assoc. Prof. Tuba Türkmendağ and Assoc. Prof. Eyyup Akbulut were in attendance at the program, which concluded with a thank-you address to all attendees, with Rector Ömer Çomaklı in particular, for his assistance and for reporting on the outcomes of the workshop.
