TURKEY 1ST FOOD MICROBIOLOGY CONGRESS CONTINUES AT ATATÜRK UNIVERSITY
The 1st Food Microbiology Congress of Turkey, organised jointly by Atatürk University Faculty of Agriculture Food Engineering and Yıldız Technical University Faculty of Chemistry-Metallurgy Food Engineering Departments, continues at Atatürk University.
The opening ceremony of the congress was attended by Prof. Dr. Ayşe Bayrakçeken Yurcan, Vice Rector of Atatürk University, Sedat Ildız, Deputy Director General of the General Directorate of Food and Control of the MoAF, Ramazan Bülbül, Head of the Animal Health, Food and Feed Research Department of the MoAF-TAGEM, Prof. Dr. Bülent Çetin from Atatürk University and Prof. Dr. Muhammet Arıcı from Yıldız Technical University as co-chairs of the congress.
The congress, which was hosted by Atatürk University between 13-16 September at Nenehatun Cultural Centre, included 48 verbal and 63 poster presentations by more than 300 participants from all over Turkey.
In addition to distinguished scientists working in the field of food microbiology in our country, important institutions such as the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, General Directorate of Food and Control and TAGEM were represented at a high level in the congress. The opening session was chaired by Prof. Dr. Mustafa Şengül, Faculty Member of Atatürk University, with the speech of Prof. Dr. Hami Alpas, Faculty Member of Middle East Technical University, on New Food Technologies and Microbial Food Safety in the Future.
Ülker, Eriş Nudo, Eti, Bor Şeker, Ant Teknik, İnfo Endüstri, Bioneks, Bee'o Propolis, Doğadan, Çaykur, which are among the important companies in the fields of food and microbiology of our country, participated in the congress sponsored by companies such as research staff and senior managers of the relevant companies, and sponsor representatives were presented certificates of participation by Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ayşe Bayrakçeken Yurcan.
In the face-to-face congress, university, ministry and private sector employees came together and created a scientific environment where problems and solutions could be evaluated.
