INTERNATIONAL SCIENTISTS TO CONDUCT RESEARCH AT THE BIODIVERSITY SCIENCE MUSEUM
Coming to Atatürk University from Russia and the USA within the scope of the project titled "Biodiversity and Taxonomy Laboratory Units, Museum-Exhibition Applications and Prototype Research" supported by Atatürk University and "TUBITAK-BİDEB 2221 Guest Scientist Support Program". Mark Volkovits (Zoological Institute, Russian Academy of Sciences, St. Petersburg) and Alexander Konstantinov (National Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Institute, Washington) will conduct research at the Biodiversity Science Museum, which is currently being established within the Biodiversity Application and Research Center.
Director of Biodiversity Application and Research Center Prof. Dr. Levent Gültekin, within the scope of the ongoing project, scientists who will conduct research at the Biodiversity Science Museum for 1 month will examine hundreds of thousands of living species in the museum.
In this context, Mark Volkovits and Alexander Konstantinov, who came to Erzurum and had the opportunity to visit Atatürk University, visited Rector Çomaklı in his office and talked about their work. Stating that Turkey is one of the richest regions in the world in terms of living population, the guests said that the establishment of the Biodiversity Science Museum is a right step in terms of showing this richness to the public.
Rector Çomaklı, who thanked his guests for their visit, stated that his doors are always open to scientists who come to Atatürk University as researchers from various science centers of the world, adding that all kinds of studies that will contribute to the scientific and academic community are given the necessary support.
Rector Çomaklı pointed out that one of his biggest dreams is to bring a Biodiversity Science Museum to Atatürk University, emphasizing that he is happy to realize this dream at the point of serving the society.
