INTERNATIONAL SNOW FILM FESTIVAL IS HOSTED BY ATATÜRK UNIVERSITY

The Festival Has Been Continuing Since 2004…

The 18th International Snow Film Festival, traditionally organized by Atatürk University with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and TRT, has started with the opening ceremony.

The 18th of the International Snow Film Festival, the first of which was held in 2004 and has been held 17 times so far, is held at the Nenehatun Cultural Center, hosted by the Faculty of Communication. In the events, including the short film competition, to be held within the scope of the festival, which will last for 3 days, prominent figures from the world of cinema and television come together with the students. The works prepared by the students for 7 different categories will be evaluated online for the first time.

Speaking at the opening, Dean of the Faculty of Communication Prof. Dr. Adem Yılmaz said that the International Snow Film Festival, which is among the traditional activities of the Faculty of Communication, has contributed to the development of the art of cinema and the training of young filmmakers. Stating that they are happy to come together again at the International Snow Film Festival, which has made its mark among the prestigious film festivals of our country with its successful works, well-known guests and contributions to the sector for 18 years, Yılmaz said that they are working to make the festival more comprehensive every year.

Erzurum Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Mayor Fevzi Polat noted that the festival made a great contribution to the promotion of the city, emphasizing that although there are film materials in many regions of Anatolia, they cannot be brought to the agenda enough, and that they will make an effort in this regard.

This Year's Theme of the Festival is 'Azerbaijan'

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Özer, on the other hand, said that they are working towards serving students under the leadership of Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı, adding that they attach importance to cultural, social, sportive and artistic activities as well as education. “As one of the 23 research universities selected among 208 universities considering various criteria, Atatürk University has always prioritized the contribution to the society as a result of education and research as well as cultural, artistic and environmental sensitivity with its advanced motto. The International Snow Film Festival is the first online film festival that allows participation at national and international level. The works of our students in 7 different categories will be subject to the competition and each will be rewarded as a result. The theme of the festival, which last year was Iranian cinema, this year's theme was Azerbaijani cinema. Within the scope of the festival, meeting of the sector and students, special sessions to be held with the participation of alumni, and festival-specific exhibitions will be organized." he finished his remarks.

At the festival, which will continue on December 15-17, a concert featuring Azerbaijani folk music melodies was given to the participants after the opening speeches.
