THE EASTERN ANATOLIAN OBSERVATORY WAS VISITED BY GOVERNOR ÇIFTÇI AND RECTOR HACIMÜFTÜOĞLU.
The Eastern Anatolian Observatory (DAG), one of Turkey's most significant scientific investments, was visited and inspected by Erzurum Governor Mustafa Çiftçi and Atatürk University President Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hacımüftüoğlu. The observatory, which was constructed under the supervision of Atatürk University and the supervision of the Ministry of Industry and Technology, has reached its final stage, according to reports.
According to Prof. Dr. Cahit Yeşilyaprak, Director of the Astrophysics Research and Application Center, the DAG project has entered the testing phase after years of development. Yeşilyaprak underscored that DAG is currently in the final stages of the image acquisition process, stating, "Our observatory, which is situated on the Konaklı Karakaya Hills at an altitude of 3,170 meters in Erzurum, is eagerly anticipating the arrival of the first light, thanks to the generous support of the Presidency of Strategy and Budget and Atatürk University." This substantial technological investment for the scientific community will make substantial contributions to the fields of astronomy and space science.
Prof. Dr. Yeşilyaprak emphasized that DAG will conduct innovative scientific research in the field of astronomy, citing the Eastern Anatolian Observatory's potential for collaboration with numerous national and international institutions in addition to research.

Erzurum Governor Mustafa Çiftçi declared that DAG will serve as a significant scientific hub not only in Turkey but also on a global scale. He expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to host such a significant project in his city. With this investment, Erzurum will become a city that has a voice in the fields of astronomy and space sciences. We, the Erzurum Governorship, will continue to make the necessary efforts to elevate our city to the vanguard in this regard and provide all the necessary support.
Atatürk University President Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hacımüftüoğlu emphasized that the DAG project will enhance the scientific potential of the nation, stating that the Eastern Anatolian Observatory will facilitate numerous national and international projects and expand the boundaries of science. Numerous institutions, organizations, and scientists have already placed requests to engage at DAG. He stated, "Our university has once again demonstrated its commitment to science by contributing to this exceptional project." He also mentioned that DAG will be instrumental in the education of young scientists.
