THE FACULTY OF VETERINARY MEDICINE HAS BEEN GRANTED A CERTIFICATE OF INTERNATIONAL ACCREDITATION.
The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Atatürk University was granted accreditation by the European Association of Establishments for Veterinary Education (EAEVE), a globally recognized accreditation body.
To address the issues identified in the evaluation report formulated subsequent to the EAEVE-ESEVT team's initial inspection of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in November 2021, the academic and administrative staff, as well as university and faculty administration, diligently labored to rectify the deficiencies. As a result, a re-evaluation visit was formally requested. With respect to this matter, the re-evaluation visit report conducted by the EAEVE-ESEVT team from April 23-25, 2024, documented the rectification of the deficiencies that were identified during the initial visit.
The decision was reached at the European Veterinary Education Committee (ECOVE) meeting of EAEVE, which took place in Paris on May 29, 2024, to accredit the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Atatürk University. At the 37th General Assembly of EAEVE, which was convened in Paris, Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Yavuz Selim Sağlam was bestowed with the accreditation certificate by EAEVE-ECOVE committee President Florian Buchner.
In order to present the accreditation certificate of the faculty, Dean Sağlam accompanied his Deputy Assoc. Prof. Emin Şengül during his visit to Atatürk University Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı. Dean Sağlam asserted that the university's achievements are considered in the selection processes of both domestic and international students, adding that the faculty's accreditation has facilitated its wider international recognition.
Dean Sağlam: "This document serves as the preeminent indicator that the provided education adheres to European standards."
Sağlam: "Our institution has attained the distinction of being the inaugural veterinary faculty in our nation to commence instruction subsequent to the year 2000 and obtain accreditation from EAEVE. EAEVE is currently assessing the quality of undergraduate education and training in areas including facilities, equipment, educational materials, library and learning resources, student admission, sufficient academic and support staff, continuing education, postgraduate education, and research. Our faculty is undergoing the accreditation process. The accreditation decision signifies that the curriculum that our students and, ultimately, our graduates are exposed to adheres to the standards of European Veterinary Education. In accordance with the legislative regulations that dictate the rights of veterinarians graduating from European Union countries, our graduates will enjoy equivalent privileges throughout the duration of their education and throughout the phases of student admission to postgraduate programs in European nations, "I would like to thank our university and faculty administrators, academic and administrative staff, our students, especially our Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı, who supported us during the EAEVE visit process, who have contributed and supported us since the establishment of our faculty to achieve this success."
"Our University Continues to Make Accreditation History," said Rector Çomaklı.
Regarding the matter, Rector Çomaklı declared that Atatürk University has established itself as a brand in this domain, showcasing a new accreditation certificate that it has obtained from an independent national and international institution to attest to the quality of education offered by universities. He further elaborated: "I declare this with immense pride and delight. I request that our Faculty of Veterinary Medicine be granted the authority to obtain a certificate of international accreditation. This significant achievement is the most compelling indication that our faculty conducts research and education of the highest caliber. The process of international accreditation has been completed through the diligent and thorough execution of labor. I extend my sincere congratulations to the entire academic and administrative personnel, students, and stakeholders who made valuable contributions to this achievement.
"This Certificate Will Increase the International Recognition of Our Graduates."
Rector Çomaklı underscored the fact that their obligations have grown since obtaining the designation of Research University. He further asserted that the New Generation University Design and Transformation vision serves as a blueprint for their actions and that progress made in this trajectory yields favorable results. "The acquisition of this esteemed certificate by our Faculty of Veterinary Medicine constitutes a significant contribution to the scientific advancement of our nation and our university." It will enhance its standing within the academic community and contribute to the increased international recognition of our graduates. This certifies the caliber of instruction provided by our faculty and ensures our continued prosperity.
