The trucks including the food products and basic ingredients of livelihood, which were collected in the aid campaign organized by Atatürk University and IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation, moved towards Syria following the ceremony.
Atatürk University Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı and his senior management, Erzurum Civil Society Platform (ESTP) President A. Mustafa Güvenli, IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation Erzurum Branch Chairman Cumhur Hakkı Çankaya with the members of the foundation and the students attended the ceremony taking place in front of the Rector's building at Atatürk University.
"We Adopt an Attitude With Opens Arms Towards the Ummah and Humanity"
Atatürk University Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı said that Syria's people in theEastern Guta district were suffering from deprivation and surviving under very harsh circumstances and uttered: '' We organized an aid campaign together with IHH for Syrian people who are our neighbour and brother and one of the bleeding wounds of the Ummah, especially for our brothers who have been deported from East Guta and settled in refugee camps. We would like to thank the Erzurum administration of IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation for leading this assistance. I would like to point out that we showed that the University is not just an educational institution but also it adopts an attitude with opens arms towards the ummah and humanity. May Allah appreciate and accept the aids.''
Rector Çomaklı also gave a gift to the students of Kocatepe Elementary School who participated in the program, thanking them for their support.
Cumhur Hakkı Çankaya, IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation Erzurum Branch Chairman,noted that the greatest drama of the war had lately happened in East Guta andsaid: ''The regime, which has been targeting civilians since the beginning of the civil war in Syria for eight years, has intensified its attacks against the East Guta for the last 2-3 months. 400 thousand people in East Guta under the control of the opponents have been living under blockade for 5 years. Up to now, the number of East Gutians who entered the territory of the north of the country exceeded 65.000. Two-thirds of the deported are children and women. Our noble people who have protected the Syrian people for eight years said that the Day is either the day of death, or the day of supporting our East Guttedbrothers who are stuck in a deportation snare and protected the oppressed and suffered Syrian people.''
5 Trucks Sett off Towards Syria
Chairman Çankaya, stating that they sent 5 truck of aid materials consisting of 30 tonsof flour, 25 tons of pasta, 26 tons of water, 13 tons of potato-vegetable-fruit, 10 tons of dry food, 1000 parcels of hygienic package (child nappy and sanitary towel, shampoo, soap and so on.),115 beds, 50 bunk beds, 100 pieces of blanket, said: '' For the support in this assistance organization, we would like to express our gratitude notably to Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı and the staff of Atatürk University, VUSLATDER, Kocatepe, Sabancı, the students, the teachers and the administrators of Necip Fazıl İmam Hatip and Aliya İzzetbegoviç Imam Hatip secondary schools.''
The aid trucks were seen off to Syria following the prays.
